The nitrogen doped nanoTiO2 was prepared by the microwave-assisted method. The properties were characterized by the X-ray diffraction (XRD) and field emission scanning electron microscopy (FESEM). The effects of the calcination temperature and the doping amount of nitrogen on the nitrogen doped nanoTiO2 crystal phase and its photocatalytic properties were studied. The result indicated that with the increase of the calcination temperature, the proportion of rutile in the mixed crystal phases increased gradually. When the calcination temperature was 650°C, the pure rutile phase appeared. When the TiO2 was calcinated at 400 °C, the particle size was the minimum (17nm). This mixed crystal was conducive to the good photocatalytic properties of nanoTiO2. The degradation rate of methyl orange was 50.86%. At the calcination temperature of 450 °C, the proportion of rutile in the mixed crystal phase increased first and then decreased, until finally it increased again with the increase of the doping amount of nitrogen. When the ratio of nitrogen to titanium was 1:0.5, the catalytic effect was the best. The photocatalytic degradation efficiency was 71.63%, and the particle size was also approximately the minimum (15nm).

The sphere-like nano-Cu2O was prepared by chemical precipitation and reduction method, the different size of sample was obtained by adjusting reaction temperature and concentration of NaOH solution. Cu2O was characterized by XRD and SEM, respectively. The results indicate that the homogeneity of Cu2O particles is related to the reaction temperature while the crystal type to the concentration of NaOH solution. The effects of the different particle size on the photocatalytic properties in the treatment of chromium(Ⅵ)-containing water was performed, the results show that there exists an important relationship between them, that is the excellent properties can be obtained with smaller size of Cu2O.

Transition metal ion-doped titanium dioxide (TiO2) powders were prepared by mechanochemical milling. Photocatalytic properties of the prepared semiconductor were evaluated using photodegradation of methylene blue under UV and visible light. Dye bleaching was observed spectrophotometrically. Color removal was reached after 120 min. The effect of varying concentration of organic dye, amount of TiO2 photocatalyst, particle size, pH, and stirring rate was observed on the efficiency of reaction. The maximum photocatalytic decomposition of methylene blue solution was achieved with 25nm particle size TiO2, which was ascribed to the enlarged surface area. All obtained results were discussed.

The effects of particle dampers attached on a classical column under dynamical loadings are investigated. A number of tests were performed to evaluate the ability of particle dampers to control the vibration of a small scale multidrum column under a swept-frequency sinusoidal signal. The particle damper can reduce considerably the response of the column to sinusoidal excitation when the size of the container, the mass ratio, the particle size and the placement of the damper are properly selected.
