Abstract The gas-phase electron diffraction study of di-2-pyridyl sulphide has yielded rg(S-C) 1.786 ± 0.004 Å and ∢ C-S-C 104.4 ± 1.7°. The dimensions of the pyridyl groups were found to be consistent with those of free pyridine molecules. Models with various conformational properties could be used to approximate the experimental data.

The structural and conformational properties of chloromethyl thiocyanate, CH2ClSCN, were studied in the solid phase and in the gas phase usingin situlow-temperature single-crystal X-ray diffraction experiments (XRD) and gas electron diffraction (GED), respectively.
