On the basis of new spectroscopic observations of the blue compact dwarf galaxy IZw18 in the narrow spectral range between 4000Å and 4500Å absorption components of Hγ and Hδ lines were discovered. Equivalent widths of Hγ and Hδ lines have been measured. From available data the OB population of IZw18 was analyzed.

Si0.56Cr0.4M0.04(M = Sc, Ti, V, Cr, Mn, Fe, Co, Ni, Cu, Rh, and Pd) solvents were investigated to identify new multi-component materials in which carbon is highly soluble, because solubility is a key parameter in solution growth of SiC. The solubility of carbon in Si0.56Cr0.4Co0.04was 8.37 at%, the highest value among the tested multi-component materials. This is about 2.5 times the solubility of carbon in Si0.6Cr0.4. These results show that addition of a small amount of a transition metal enhanced the solubility of carbon in Si0.6Cr0.4. This technique for determining carbon solubility is effective for investigating crystal growth using solvents with several components, for which complex thermodynamic calculations are necessary.

Biomass plants, apart from producing energy, help to reduce CO2(g) emissions. One of the biggest problems for their development is superheater corrosion due to fuel corrosivity, especially of the straw. This limits both the temperature of the vapour and also the effectiveness of the plant. In order to know more about the reactions which happen inside the boiler of biomass, thermodynamic calculations using software (HSC Chemistry) have been carried out. Field tests have been carried out in the Sangüesa Biomass Plant in Navarra (Spain): determination of the types of oxides and the deposits formed on the superheaters tubes as well as a program to measure temperatures. Finally, the global results are discussed.

In the process of high sulfur gas field development, the sulfur will separate out from the mixed gas when the pressure near wellbore area drops to a critical pressure of H2S. This will reduce the reservoir porosity greatly and decrease the gas well productivity as well. This paper discusses the characteristics of pressure transient testing plots when sulfur deposition occurs based on the redial composite reservoir model. And introduce an approach to determine the sulfur deposition radius near the wellbore with pressure transient testing interpretation in high sulfur gas reservoir. The method has been applied in some high sulfur gas field in eastern Sichuan Basin. The result shows that the method is simple and practical.
