Abstract The reaction between nitrite and sulfanilic acid/N-(naphthyl) ethylenediamine has been investigated. In buffer systems, the rate of the reaction was pH-dependent with an optimum at pH 3.0 (±0.2). Adding sodium chloride to the system significantly increased the rate of the reaction.
