This paper explains the various characteristics of liquid and liquid mixtures. In this paper viscosities for the binary liquid mixtures of methyl ethyl ketone with benzene, nitrobenzene, cblorobenzene and bromobenzene were determined at 303.15 K. The deviation in viscosity was calculated and its behaviours was studied as a function of mole fraction. The deviation in viscosity is negative in the system methyl ethyl ketone with benzene and is positive in the other systems. The results were discussed in terms of interactions.

Excess volumes for the binary liquid mixtures of methylisobutylketone with benzene, toluene, chlorobenzene, bromobenzene, and nitrobenzene have been measured at 303.15 and 313.15 K. Excess volumes were negative for all the systems over the entire range of composition and at both the temperatures. The behaviour of VE as a function of composition and temperature was studied. Viscosity data have also been determined for the five systems at 303.15 K. The excess viscosity, Δ ln η, has been calculated and its behaviour as a function of composition was investigated. The results of VE and Δ ln η have been discussed in terms of dipole – induced dipole and dipole–dipole interactions between the components. VE and Δ ln η were analysed in the light of Prigogine–Patterson–Flory equation of state theory and Bloomfield and Dewan's viscosity relations.

Excess volume data for binary liquid mixtures of butylamine with aromatic and aliphatic hydrocarbons were measured as a function of composition dilatometrically at 303.15 and 313.15 K. The hydrocarbons include: benzene, toluene, three isomeric xylenes, hexane, heptane, and octane. The values of VE were found to be positive over the entire range of composition in all the eight systems at both the temperatures. The positive values were ascribed to the break-up of hydrogen bonds in the aggregates of amine by the hydrocarbons.
