For the synthesis of the compounds ClH2SiESiH3, (H3SiE)2SiH2 and (HSi)4E6, (H3Si)2E was used as a chalkogenating agent(E = S,Se). With H2SiCl2 and HSiCl3, respectively, pure samples were isolated only of (H3SiS)2SiH2, (HSi)4S6 and (HSi4Se6. The others were characterised by spectroscopic investigations. An X-ray structure determination for (HSi)4S6 was carried out and a few chemical properties of these substances are described.
