Treatment of Ru(acac)3 with 2-cyano-pyridine and 3,5-dimethyl-pyridine in the presence of zinc dust as reducing agent in refluxing THF afforded the ruthenium(II) complexes cis-[RuII(acac)2(2- CN-py)2] (1) and cis-[RuII(acac)2(3,5-Me2-py)2] (2), respectively. Interaction of Ru(acac)3 with 3- Me-pyridine and 3,5-Me2-pyridine in the presence of Br2 in refluxing THF gave the ruthenium(III) complexes [RuIII(acac)Br2(3-Me-py)2] (3) and [RuIII(acac)Br2(3,5-Me2-py)2] (4), respectively. The four complexes have been spectroscopically and electrochemically characterized, and their crystal and molecular structures have been established by X-ray crystallography

The polynuclear complexes [Mo3O8(tidf)]·dmso·2H2O (1) and [{Cu2(tidf)}2(μ-Mo8O24)] (2) (tidf2−is a symmetrical tetraiminodiphenolate Robson-type macrocyclic ligand) were prepared from equimolar combinations of [Mg2(tidf)](NO3)2·4H2O, [MoO2Cl2(dmso)2] (for1) and complex1and Cu(ClO4)2·4H2O (for2) in acetonitrile. Molecular structures of both complexes were determined and showed atypical modes of coordination. A significant observation was the remarkable flexibility of the macrocycle ligand that effectively accommodated the steric demands of metal cations and the packing forces and showed a unique mode of coordination. Spectroscopic (UV-vis and FTIR) and redox properties are discussed.

The photophysical properties of two meso–trans-A2B-type corroles containing phenyl or pyrenyl units were reported in this study. TD-DFT calculations and electrochemical analysis were conducted to better understand the corrole molecular structures.

Bis/tris(phthalocyaninato) europium double- and triple-decker complexes Eu [ Pc (β- SC 6 H 13)8]2 (1) and Eu 2[ Pc (β- SC 6 H 13)8]3 (2) [ Pc (β- SC 6 H 13)8 = 2, 3, 9, 10, 16, 17, 23, 24-octakis(hexylthio)phthalocyaninate] have been synthesized and characterized by a series of spectroscopic methods including mass, NMR, electronic absorption and IR spectroscopy in addition to elemental analysis. Their molecular structures have been determined by single crystal X-ray diffraction analysis and electrochemical properties studied by cyclic voltammetry.
