Nowadays, the creation of remotely-piloted aerial vehicles for various purposes is regarded as one of the most relevant and promising trends of aircraft development. FAU "25 State Research Institute of Chemmotology of the Ministry of Defense of the Russian Federation" have studied the operation features of aircraft piston engines and developed technical requirements for motor oil for piston four-stroke UAV engines, as well as a new engine oil M-5z/20 AERO in cooperation with NPP KVALITET, LLC. Based on the complex of qualification tests, the stated operational properties of the experimental-industrial batch of M-5z/20 AERO oil are generally confirmed.

This paper presents a method of sorption using peat for elimination of emergency spills of crude oil and petroleum products and the possibility of energy use of oil-saturated peat. The results of assessment of the sorbent capacity of peat are presented, with waste motor oil and diesel fuel chosen as petroleum products. Natural peat has been found to possess sorption properties in relation to petroleum products. The sorbent capacity of peat can be observed from the first minutes of contact with motor oil and diesel fuel, and significantly depends on their viscosity. For the evaluation of thermal properties of peat saturated with petroleum products, experimental studies have been conducted on determination of moisture and ash content of as-fired fuel. It is shown that adsorbed oil increases the moisture and ash content of peat in comparison with the initial sample. Therefore, when intended for energy use, peat saturated with petroleum products is to be subjected to additional drying. Simulation of net calorific value has been performed based on the calorific values of peat and petroleum products with different ratios of petroleum product content in peat and for a saturated peat sample. The obtained results are compared with those of experiments conducted in a calorimetric bomb and recalculated for net calorific value. A satisfactory discrepancy is obtained, which amounts to about 12%. Options have been considered providing for combustion of saturated peat as fuel (burnt per se and combined with a solid fuel) and processing it to produce liquid, gaseous and solid fuels. Peat can be used to solve environmental problems of elimination of emergency spills of crude oil and petroleum products and as an additional resource in solving the problem of finding affordable energy.

This paper presents the results of an experimental investigation of aeration of water with a corresponding mass concentration of waste motor oil depending on the height of the liquid column for varied flow of air introduced into the water. The aeration process for water column heights of 1 and 2 m were investigated. The purpose of investigations performed on an experimental installation was comparison of technical indicators of the aeration process depending on the height of the water column and air flow in order to achieve more efficient purification of waste water.

Abstract Polymer flooding is a mature chemical enhanced oil recovery method employed in oilfields at pilot testing and field scales. Although results from these applications empirically demonstrate the higher displacement efficiency of polymer flooding over waterflooding operations, the fact remains that not all the oil will be recovered. Thus, continued research attention is needed to further understand the displacement flow mechanism of the immiscible process and the rock–fluid interaction propagated by the multiphase flow during polymer flooding operations. In this study, displacement sequence experiments were conducted to investigate the viscosifying effect of polymer solutions on oil recovery in sandpack systems. The history matching technique was employed to estimate relative permeability, fractional flow and saturation profile through the implementation of a Corey-type function. Experimental results showed that in the case of the motor oil being the displaced fluid, the XG 2500 ppm polymer achieved a 47.0% increase in oil recovery compared with the waterflood case, while the XG 1000 ppm polymer achieved a 38.6% increase in oil recovery compared with the waterflood case. Testing with the motor oil being the displaced fluid, the viscosity ratio was 136 for the waterflood case, 18 for the polymer flood case with XG 1000 ppm polymer and 9 for the polymer flood case with XG 2500 ppm polymer. Findings also revealed that for the waterflood cases, the porous media exhibited oil-wet characteristics, while the polymer flood cases demonstrated water-wet characteristics. This paper provides theoretical support for the application of polymer to improve oil recovery by providing insights into the mechanism behind oil displacement. Graphic abstract Highlights The difference in shape of relative permeability curves are indicative of the effect of mobility control of each polymer concentration. The water-oil systems exhibited oil-wet characteristics, while the polymer-oil systems demonstrated water-wet characteristics. A large contrast in displacing and displaced fluid viscosities led to viscous fingering and early water breakthrough.

BackgroundRegulatory T cells (Tregs) play an important role in maintaining immune homeostasis, preventing excessive inflammation in normal tissues. In cancer, Tregs hamper anti-tumor immunosurveillance and facilitate immune evasion. Selective targeting of intratumoral Tregs is a potentially promising treatment approach. Orthogonal evaluation of tumor-infiltrating lymphocytes (TILs) in solid tumors in mice and humans have identified CCR8, and several tumor necrosis family receptors (TNFRs), including TNFSFR8 (CD30), as receptors differentially upregulated on intratumoral Tregs compared to normal tissue Tregs and other intratumoral T cells, making these intriguing therapeutic targets.Brentuximab vedotin (BV) is approved for classical Hodgkin lymphoma (cHL) across multiple lines of therapy including frontline use in stage III/IV cHL in combination with doxorubicin, vinblastine, and dacarbazine. BV is also approved for certain CD30-expressing T-cell lymphomas. BV is comprised of a CD30-directed monoclonal antibody conjugated to the highly potent microtubule-disrupting agent monomethyl auristatin E (MMAE).The activity of BV in lymphomas is thought to primarily result from tumor directed intracellular MMAE release, leading to mitotic arrest and apoptotic cell death.The role CD30 plays in normal immune function is unclear, with both costimulatory and proapoptotic roles described. CD30 is transiently upregulated following activation of memory T cells and expression has been linked to highly activated/suppressive IRF4+ effector Tregs.MethodsHere we evaluated the activity of BV on CD30-expressing T cell subsets in vitro and in vivo.ResultsTreatment of enriched T cell subsets with clinically relevant concentrations of BV drove selective depletion of CD30-expressing Tregs > CD30-expressingCD4+ T memory cells, with minimal effects on CD30-expressing CD8+ T memory cells. In a humanized xeno-GVHD model, treatment with BV selectively depleted Tregs resulting in accelerated wasting and robust T cell expansion. The observed differential activity on Tregs is likely attributable to significant increases in CD30 expression and reduced efflux pump activity relative to other T cell subsets.
