AbstractThree new complexes of Cu(II) halides (Cl, Br) with 1-methylimidazole (MIm), [Cu(MIm)4]Br2 (1), [Cu(MIm)4Br]Br · H2O (2), and [Cu(MIm)6]Cl2 · 2H2O (3) have been synthesized in ethanol. Their crystal structures have been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. FT-IR spectroscopy, mass spectrometry, and thermal analyses were applied to characterize the compounds.

AbstractMercury selenide nanostructures were synthesized from the reaction of N, N′-bis(salicylidene)propane-1,3-diamine mercury complex, (Hg(Salpn)) as a novel precursor, via sonochemical method. The effect of different surfactant on the morphology and particle size of the products was investigated. Products were characterized by X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM), transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared (FT-IR) spectroscopy and X-ray energy dispersive spectroscopy (EDS).

AbstractA series of nanocomposites consist of organic polyimide and organo-modified clay content varying from 0 to 10 mass%, were successfully prepared by in situ polymerization. Polyimide used as a matrix of nanocomposite was prepared through the reaction of 1,2-bis(4-aminophenoxy)ethane (BAE) and 3,3′,4,4′-biphenyltetracarboxylic dianhydride (BPDA) in N,N-dimethylacetamide (DMAC). The resulting nanocomposite films were characterized by FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction (XRD), scanning electron microscopy (SEM) and thermogravimetric analysis (TGA).

AbstractThe potassium oxidofluoridostannate(IV) fluoride K5Sn2OF11 was synthesized via a solid-state route at T = 300°C in arc-weldeded copper ampoules. It crystallizes in the orthorhombic system in the acentric space group Ama2 (no. 40) with a unit cell volume of V = 2.5727(4) nm3. The cell parameters are a = 1758.3(2), b = 2452.3(2) and c = 596.7(1) pm. As a main structural motif, K5Sn2OF11 exhibits two different kinds of dinuclear [Sn2OF11]5‒ units, which are embedded into a matrix consisting of potassium cations and fluoride anions. The substance was characterized by single-crystal and powder X-ray diffraction, as well as by FT-IR spectroscopy.

Zirconia-graphene composite (ZrO2-G) has been successfully synthesized via decomposition of ZrOCl2•6H2O in a water-isopropanol system with dispersed graphene oxide (GO) utilizing Na2S as a precursor could enable the occurrence of the deposition of Zr4+ and the deoxygenation of GO at the same time. Transmission electron microscopy (TEM), Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR) and X-ray diffraction (XRD) techniques were used to characterize the samples. It was found that graphene were fully coated with ZrO2, and the ZrO2 existing in tetragonal phase, which resulted in the formation of two-dimensional composite.

Copolymers based on 1, 4-diethoxybenzene (DEB) and 3, 4-ethylenedioxythiophene (EDOT) were electrochemically synthesized and characterized. The structures of the copolymers were established by 1H NMR and FT-IR spectroscopy. The results indicated the final product was a copolymer instead of a blend or a composite. The physical properties were systematically investigated by cyclic voltammetry, UV-vis absorption and fluorescence. The PL maximum of copolymers presented obviously red-shift to long wavelength as the feed ratio of EDOT in monomer mixture increased.

This study reports a green method for the synthesis of gold nanoparticles (AuNPs) using the aqueous extract of Salix aegyptiaca extract. The effects of gold salt concentration, extract concentration and extract quantity were investigated on nanoparticles synthesis. Novel methods of ideally synthesizing AuNPs are thus thought that are formed at ambient temperatures, neutral pH, low costs and environmentally friendly fashion. AuNPs were characterized with different techniques such as UV–vis spectroscopy, FT-IR spectroscopy, X-ray diffraction, and TEM. FT-IR spectroscopy revealed that gold nanoparticles were functionalized with biomolecules that have primary carbonyl group, -OH groups and other stabilizing functional groups. TEM experiments showed that these nanoparticles are formed with various shapes and X-ray diffraction pattern showed high purity and face centered cubic structure of AuNPs. For electrochemical properties of AuNPs, a modified glassy carbon electrode using AuNPs (AuNPs/GCE) was investigated. The results show that electronic transmission rate between the modified electrode and [Fe (CN)6]3-/4- increased.

AbstractIn this work, synthesis and characterization of composite materials based on NanoClay(NC) and boric acid doped PolyAniline (PANI) is studied. PANI was successfully incorporated into NC to form PANI-NC composites. The resulting organic-inorganic hybrid material, PANI-NC was characterized by various physicochemical techniques. Formation of PANI inside the clay tactoid has been confirmed by X-ray diffraction studies (XRD), scanning electron microscope (SEM) and FT-IR. Also, conductivity and physical properties of the PANI-NC composites were investigated.
