The aim of this work is to prepare a kind of polymer-based form-stable PCM with a higher thermal conductivity. Graphite powders modified by titanate coupling agent were chosen as the thermal conductivity enhancer. The modified graphite(MG) and capric acid(CA)-myristic acid(MA) eutectic as thermal absorbing material were blended into the poly-methyl methacrylate (PMMA) serving as supportive matrix during the bulk-polymerization process of MMA. The composite PCMs with different MG mass fraction (2%, 5%, 7%, 10% and 15%) were characterized by SEM, DSC technique, volume expansibility measurement and mechanical test. Thermal conductivities of the composites were measured by transient hot-wire method. The results indicate that the MG/CA-MA/PMMA composites keep the good thermal storage performance while the thermal expansibility becomes weaker. Thermal conductivity of the composite PCM has been enhanced significantly.

Summary:The polypropylene growth process on silica supported metallocene catalysts was examined by electron microscopy and kinetic investigations. It was possible to identify different polymerization stages with different characteristic kinetic data in the slurry phase which led to the development of a refined polymer growth model [1-2]. Tomographical reconstruction of shortly polymerized catalyst particles obtained by electron micrographs of serial microtome sections turned out to be a useful tool to achieve a better understanding of the heterogeneous polymerization process and the influence of the support structure on polymer growth.1. IntroductionSingle-site metallocene catalysts produce extremely uniform polymers with molecular weight distributions (MWD) of 2 or less and very narrow compositional distributions in comparison to conventional Ziegler-catalysts. This study synthesized a series of prepolymers from butyl acrylate and functional monomer with various side-chain structures. A bulk polymerization process was then applied under ultraviolet irradiation. The molecular structure of the prepolymer was characterized by Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy and gel permeation chromatography. The degradation temperature and glass transition temperature ( Tg) were examined. The prepolymer was employed to the acrylic hot-melt pressure-sensitive adhesives (HMPSAs) and the corresponding adhesive performance was presented. In this study, glycidyl methacrylate was considered to be an effective cross-linking agent for acrylic HMPSAs containing carboxylic acid groups. The prepolymer containing carboxylic acid synthesized acrylic HMPSAs exhibited high adhesion in peel strength and shear strength compared to the hydroxyethyl group. The adhesive performance of HMPSAs in different environments was also investigated.
