Abstract In this paper, we report a device model that has successfully described the characteristics of an anomalous CMOS NFET and led to the identification of a non-visual defect. The model was based on detailed electrical characterization of a transistor exhibiting a threshold voltage (Vt) of about 120mv lower than normal and also exhibiting source to drain leakage. Using a simple graphical simulation, we predicted that the anomalous device was a transistor in parallel with a resistor. It was proposed that the resistor was due to a counter doping defect. This was confirmed using Scanning Capacitance Microscopy (SCM). The dopant defect was shown by TEM imaging to be caused by a crystalline silicon dislocation.

Aim and Objective: In this work, we synthesized and characterized a novel Brönsted acidic ionic liquid from the reaction of N, N, N’, N’-tetramethylethylenediamine with chlorosulfonic acid and explored its catalytic activity in 1, 8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes synthesis. Materials and Methods: Dimedone, aryl aldehydes, and the ionic liquid as the catalyst were reacted under solvent-free conditions. The progressive of the reaction was monitored by a thin layer of chromatography (ethyl acetate/n-hexane = 1/5). All products were characterized as the basis of their spectra data and melting point by comparison with those reported in the literature. Results: The prepared ionic liquid was successfully applied in the synthesis of 1, 8-dioxooctahydroxanthenes in good to high yields on the reaction of aryl aldehyde and dimedone at 120oC under solvent-free conditions. Conclusion: This research demonstrates that the catalyst is impressive for 1, 8-dioxo-octahydroxanthenes synthesis under solvent-free conditions.

AbstractA study of apatite crystals from the Asio mine, Japan, showed sectoral texture related to the growth of the crystal, and with optically biaxial properties within the sectors. Wet chemical analysis gave a composition Ca5(PO4)3(F0.64,OH0.38,Cl0.01)1.03 for the specimen.Additional diffraction spots were not observed in precession and oscillation X-ray photographs and electron diffraction photographs. Since the internal textures correlate with the surface growth features, it is suggested that the internal textures and the unusual optical properties were produced during nonequilibrium crystal growth. The fluorine/hydroxyl sites in hexagonal apatite are symmetrically equivalent in the solid crystal but, at a growth surface, this equivalence may be lost, resulting in a reduction of crystal symmetry. Heating of the apatite to about 850°C results in the almost complete disappearance of the optical anomalies due to disordering, which may be related to the loss of hydroxyl from the crystal.
