Under UV-Vis irradiation, the metallic impurities embedded in non-purified commercial carbon nanotubes generate radicals suitable for advanced oxidation processes. Semiconducting PPY membranes enhance the photo activity of a supported catalyst.

Three electrochemical double layer capacitor (EDLC) cells (Cell X, Y and Z) made from an electrode of 90 wt. % of the multiwalled commercial carbon nanotubes, 10 wt. % of poly (vinylidene fluoride-co-hexafluoropropylene) and three different samples of electrolytes polymer electrolyte made up of a compositions of 50:50, 60:40 and 70:30 wt.% of H3PO4/PVA (in ratio) soaked in a filter paper was characterized in this study. The aim is to ascertain the disparities in performances of the cells in relation to their respective scan rates. Cyclic voltammetry (CV) measurement of cells shows a high specific capacitance of 313 Fg−1 for the scan rates 10 mV was recorded from the cell with the highest composition H3PO4/PVA ratio (i.e. 70:30 wt.%). However, when the CV of the cell was measured with different scan rates, disparities in the performance occurred, as only 94 and 174 Fg−1 was recorded at the scan rates 100 and 50 mV respectively for cell-X. The result was not different when the two other cells (60:40 and 70:30 wt. % of H3PO4/PVA) were measured at the same scan rates.

Temperature-induced changes in electrolyte improved ion accessibility inside small SWCNTs, while spaces inside larger SWCNTs provided accessible storage sites and good performance at RT, rendering temperature of little effect on their charge storage performance.

The aim of this article is to study time dependent rotating single-wall electrically conducting carbon nanotubes with aqueous suspensions under the influence of nonlinear thermal radiation in a permeable medium. The impact of viscous dissipation is taken into account. The basic governing equations, which are in the form of partial differential equations (PDEs), are transformed to a set of ordinary differential equations (ODEs) suitable for transformations. The homotopy analysis method (HAM) is applied for the solution. The effect of numerous parameters on the temperature and velocity fields is explanation by graphs. Furthermore, the action of significant parameters on the mass transportation and the rates of fiction factor are determined and discussed by plots in detail. The boundary layer thickness was reduced by a greater rotation rate parameter in our established simulations. Moreover, velocity and temperature profiles decreased with increases of the unsteadiness parameter. The action of radiation phenomena acts as a source of energy to the fluid system. For a greater rotation parameter value, the thickness of the thermal boundary layer decreases. The unsteadiness parameter rises with velocity and the temperature profile decreases. Higher value of augments the strength of frictional force within a liquid motion. For greater and ; the heat transfer rate rises. Temperature profile reduces by rising values of .

Synthesized silver nanowire/polystyrene nanocomposites showed superior electrical properties to commercial carbon nanotube/polystyrene nanocomposites at high filler loadings. This was ascribed to the higher metallic nature of silver nanowires.
