AbstractPhotocatalysis belongs to one of the Advanced Oxidation Processes (AOP). These processes make possible the decomposition of organic compounds to carbon dioxide and water. The most useful photocatalyst is titanium dioxide which, to make it active, requires irradiation with suitable wavelengths. Pure titanium dioxide can be activated only by ultraviolet light irradiation (UV). For a long time, studies have been carried on modified titanium dioxide materials to obtain more effective photocatalysts with greater activity under UV light irradiation or to obtain photocatalysts which may be active also under visible light irradiation. One of the possible ways for modifying TiO

AbstractThis research work presents a comprehensive and quantitative analysis of micro-crack formation, in terms of length and number of micro-cracks formed on the machined surface of pure titanium. The effect of processing parameters on micro-crack formation was studied through scanning electron microscope. The results indicate that the micro-crack formation is the best represented in terms of average crack length. Statistical analysis of the results shows that pulse on time, pulse off time and peak current significantly deteriorate the microstructure of machined surfaces which produces the deeper, wider globules of debris and micro cracks. The compounds like titanium dioxide (rutile) (TiO2), (TiO0.325), Ti2O3, Ilmenite (Fe2Ti4O), titanium carbides (TiC) and copper titanium dioxide (Cu3TiO4) were formed due to phase transformations that were analyzed through X-ray diffraction and energy dispersive X-ray method.

In pure titanium body, through the method of micro-arc oxidation (MAO) on the surface of porous titanium dioxide film and study on factors of methyl orange in the light influence of catalytic degradation process, the results show that: with uv light for the source, pH value of 5, micro-arc oxidation voltage is 400 V, the catalytic activity of porous titanium dioxide film was the highest.
