The electrical properties of oligopthiophene-based hybrid gold–graphene junctions were measured with the STM-I(s) method to determine the attenuation factor and effect of specific anchoring groups. It shows that graphene is an effective contact in forming nano-junctions.

Control of quantum interference features: molecular junctions incorporating pyrrolodipyridine-based molecular wires were fabricated by scanning probe methods. Quantum interference effects were introduced by employing meta-connected molecules, and modulated in magnitude by changing the substituent on the pyrrolic N. Dramatic changes in molecular conductance and DFT transport calculations demonstrate the storng effect that small changes in electronic density can have on the overall conductance of a molecular wire.

An extension to curly arrow rules for the prediction of quantum interference behaviour in conjugated molecular wires widens the scope of this simple graphical method to wires containing heteroatoms, cross-conjugation and/or non-alternant structures.

A set of experiments in surface-initiated ring-opening metathesis polymerization, including end-functionalization of growing brushes and contact angle/cyclic voltammetry measurements. We report preparation and CV of two different conjugated polymer films, and several endgroup and sidechain functionalization experiments using cross-metathesis and active ester substitution.
