Teknologi pemisahan gas telah banyak dilakukan menggunakan membran. Mixed matrix membran (MMMs) telah banyak dikembangkan dengan mengkombinasikan polimer organik dan filler anorganik. Pemisahan gas dengan mixed matrix membrane telah banyak dikembangkan dan menghasilkan kinerja yang sangat baik. Pada pemisahan gas CO 2 /CH 4, satu hal yang diutamakan dan diperhatikan adalah permeabilitas yang tinggi. Umumnya semakin tinggi permeabilitas suatu gas dalam membran, maka semakin rendah pula selektivitasnya dan begitu pula sebaliknya. Beberapa filler yang baik digunakan untuk mixed matrix membrane yaitu dengan filler material silika, nanopartikel NiO, grafena oksida dan metal organic frameworks (MOF).Kata Kunci: Mixed matrix membrane, pemisahan gas

Abstract In this research, the effect of adding MIL-100 (Fe) MOFs on the PEBAX membranes has been scrutinized in two grades of 1657 and 2533. Initially, the intended membranes were synthesized by the solution-casting method. Then, the XRD and SEM were applied to deliberate the influence of adding MIL-100 (Fe) to the structure of both types of membranes. In consequence, the separation function of the pair gases of CO2/CH4، CO2/N2 and CO2/O2 and their permeability were considered at the pressure of 3.5 bar and temperature of 25°C. Eventually, their function was compared by Robeson diagrams of 1991 and 2008. The comparison results by Robeson diagrams indicated that the PEBAX1657/MIL-100 (Fe) and PEBAX2533/MIL-100 (Fe) membranes containing 5 wt.% of MOF represent more suitable performance in separating CO2/CH4 in comparison with the axis of the Robeson diagram. However, their function for separating the aforementioned gases requires more modifications.

A variety of metal organic frameworks (MOFs) were synthesized and evaluated for their iodine adsorption capacity. Out of the MOFs tested, ZIF-8 showed the most promising result with an iodine vapor uptake of 876.6 mg/g. ZIF-8 was then incorporated into a polymer, polyethersulfone (PES), at different proportions to prepare mixed matrix membranes (MMMs), which were then used to perform further iodine adsorption experiments. With a mixing ratio of 40 wt % of ZIF-8, the iodine adsorption capacity reached 1387.6 mg/g, wherein an astounding 60% improvement in adsorption was seen with the MMMs prepared compared to the original ZIF-8 powder.
