A visible-light-induced direct α-oxygenation of N-substituted tetrahydroisoquinoline derivatives has been successfully developed. Metalloporphyrin (ZnTPP) has been identified as an effective and inexpensive photocatalyst for this transformation with a wide range of substrates.
