The ir transmission of the optical phonons for the mixed crystals ZnS1– xSe x and CdS1– xSe x, at various concentrations of x, was studied as a function of pressure up to about 43 kbar. At all concentrations a two-mode behavior was observed. For both systems the high frequency mode exhibits a greater pressure dependence than the low frequency mode. The gap mode observed for the ZnS1– xSe x mixed crystals at low concentrations of Se is found to be pressure insensitive as contrasted to the Cd1- xSe x mixed crystals.

We derive an expression for the correlation function of the random force on a soliton which is consistent with the constraints needed to integrate out the zero modes which appear due to the broken translational symmetry of the soliton solution. It is shown that when the constraint does not commute with the operator which defines the correlation function, i.e. when the operator is not physical, only low frequency phonon contributions may be considered. On the contrary, when the correlation function of the random force on the soliton is constructed with physical operators one may also include in a correct manner the contributions from the optical phonons.

A hexapod-like lead sulphide (PbS) nanostructure with six symmetric arms were investigated by Raman spectrum. The first order longitudinal optical phonons (1–LO) and second order longitudinal optical phonons (2–LO) vibration modes locate at 205 cm-1 and 456 cm-1, respectively. The transverse optical ( TO ) mode and combination modes (LO+TO and TO+TA) exist in the low frequency area. In air circumstance, the surface of PbS nanomaterials can be easily damaged by laser with power ~1.2 mW. The vacuum circumstance can avoid from photodegradation efficiently. Therefore, both irradiation by enough power laser and oxygen condition are necessary conditions for the photodegradation of PbS nanomaterials.
