In this paper, the interaction between two trap ions with laser beam and electromagnetic field containing the Stark shift terms has been investigated. The analytical solution for the differential equations which describes the system Hamiltonian is obtained. The dynamical behavior for the entanglement, entropy squeezing and purity of system are discussed. Some important physical characteristics such as revivals and collapses for the occupation of the trapped ion, entanglement sudden death (birth) and single trapped ion entropy squeezing are discussed. In addition, the influence of Lamb–Dicke parameter and the initial states on the evolution of the entanglement, linear entropy are studied. Finally, some remarks about the obtained results are given briefly.

Unlike for bipartite states consisting of distinguishable particles, in the case of identical parties the notion of entanglement is still under debate. In the following, we review two different approaches to the entanglement of systems consisting of two bosons or fermions; the first approach is based on the particle aspect typical of first quantization and identifies separable pure states as those that allow to assign two orthogonal single particle vector states to both parties. The second approach makes full use of the mode aspect of second quantization whereby separability can be formulated as absence of nonlocal correlation among two different sets of modes. While the first approach applies to pure states only, the second one is more general and characterizes generic entangled states. In the following, we shall show that the mode-based approach indeed contains the particle-based one.

In this paper, we investigate nonlocal correlation (beyond entanglement) captured by measurement induced nonlocality and geometric quantum discord for a pair of interacting spin-1/2 particles at thermal equilibrium. It is shown that both the measures are identical in measuring the correlation. We show that nonlocal correlation between the spins exist even without entanglement and the correlation vanishes only for maximal mixture of product bases. We also observe that while interaction between the spins is responsible for enhancement of correlation, this non-classicality decreases with the intervention of external magnetic field.
