Energies and fine-structure corrections for the doubly excited 3Pe and 3De states of the helium atom are calculated using the Rayleigh–Ritz variational method and the saddle-point variational method with a multiconfiguration-interaction function. The relativistic and mass polarization corrections are included. The oscillator strengths, transition rates, and wavelengths are also calculated. The doubly excited states are grouped into Rydberg series labeled by the quantum numbers K, T, and A to display the systematic regularity along the series. The results are compared with the theoretical and experimental data in the literature. PACS Nos.: 31.15.Pf, 31.25.Jf, 32.70.Cs

The decay pattern of the low lying levels in the shape transitional nucleus 150 Sm is analyzed in terms of the quasi-vibrational and quasi-rotational collective model. The Dynamic Pairing plus quadrupole Model in the microscopic theory of the collective model is employed to predict extensive structure characteristics. The potential energy surface (PES), the spectroscopic factors and the E2, E0 transition rates from the DPPQ model are illustrated. Comparison is made with the predictions in the Interacting Boson Model (IBM-1). A correspondence is demonstrated of the effect of the control parameter in the two models on the calculated nuclear structure. The study of the wave functions of the two spin I = 2 excited states in IBM is carried out. The alternative view of an anharmonic vibrator and a soft rotor is discussed in terms of the E2 transition rates and other structural characteristics.

The gamma-ray spectrum of 75Se has been studied with a variety of Ge(Li) detectors. The energies and intensities of 15 lines have been accurately measured. Of these a 24.4 and 468.6 keV transition were substantiated for the first time in the gamma-ray spectrum. Ge(Li)–Ge(Li) coincidence measurements established the newly observed 24.4 keV transition. These experiments also substantiated the 80.8 keV transition (observed for the first time) deduced from electron conversion spectra. The accurate intensity values obtained in this work have been combined with proper literature data and conversion coefficients for various transitions have been determined. These data and recent half-life measurements of some excited states by other workers permitted us to calculate the transition rates in 75As. The data obtained indicate that the 198.6, 279.5, and 400.5 keV levels in 75As exhibit strong collective character, in contrast to the 264.6 keV level, which shows little influence of collective effects.

We study the manifestation of collective vibrations and rotations coupled to single-particle motion in odd-mass nuclei with the presence of axial quadrupole-octupole deformations. Our model incorporates K-mixing effects stemming from the Coriolis interaction between the odd nucleon and the even-even core and thus takes into account the probabilities for otherwise forbidden due to the axial symmetry electromagnetic transitions between excited states built on different intrinsic configurations. We demonstrate these effects in the quasi-parity-doublet spectrum of the nucleus 221Fr in which a strong Coriolis interaction manifests. The model successfully describes the available intra- and interband E1, E2 and M1 transition rates giving an insight into the mechanism which allows the K-suppressed transitions in axially symmetric nuclei.
