We have designed four dyes based on D–A′–π–A/D–π–A′–π–A triphenylamine and quinoline derivatives for DSSCs and studied their optoelectronic properties as well as the effects of the introduction of alkoxy groups and thiophene group on the properties.

A high performance electrocatalyst was prepared based on CoS nanoparticles on an organized mesoporous SnO2 platform. High energy conversion efficiencies of 6.6% and 7.5% were demonstrated in solid and liquid state, Pt-free dye-sensitized solar cells (DSSCs), respectively.
