Methods of testing and describing the recrystallization process in ice cream systems were characterized. The scope of this study included a description of the recrystallization process and a description and comparison of the following methods: microscopy and image analysis, focused beam reflectance measurement (FBRM), oscillation thermo-rheometry (OTR), nuclear magnetic resonance (NMR), splat-cooling assay, and X-ray microtomography (micro-CT). All the methods presented were suitable for characterization of the recrystallization process, although they provide different types of information, and they should be individually matched to the characteristics of the tested product.

Bloch-vector spaces for N-level systems are investigated from the spherical-coordinate point of view in order to understand their geometrical aspects. We present a characterization of the space by using the spectra of (orthogonal) generators of SU (N). As an application, we find a dual property of the space which provides an overall picture of the space. We also provide three classes of quantum-state representations based on actual measurements and discuss their state-spaces.

We present an experimental investigation of the spatio-spectral coherence properties of bright twin-beam states (TWBs) as functions of different parameters, such as pump mean power and tuning angle of the employed nonlinear crystal. Our attention is mainly focused on the possible relations among the different quantities under investigation. Particular attention is devoted to the evolution of the number of spatio-spectral modes describing the radiation field, as it represents an interesting property to be controlled in view of possible applications to quantum state engineering protocols.
