We investigated the feasibility of using Melanopsis shells as radiocarbon chronometers of paleolakes and springs in the Jordan Valley, Israel. For this purpose, we analyzed the 14C content of aragonite of living Melanopsis shells from different freshwater bodies of the northern Jordan Valley and Lake Kinneret (Sea of Galilee) and compared them to the contemporaneous water values. The Melanopsis shells are in 14C equilibrium with their habitat waters, allowing to specify a particular reservoir age for various water types. We measured ∼750 yr for Lake Kinneret, ∼2300 yr for northern Jordan, ∼4600 yr for springs in the north Kinneret, and ∼7200 yr for streams flowing directly from carbonate aquifers. These results were tested and corroborated by analyzing fossil Melanopsis shells of known age, measured on contemporaneous organic matter. We conclude that Melanopsis shells are reliable 14C chronometers and have the potential to be used as paleohydrological tracers.

This research aims to identify the impact of using a science lab on the support student learning in Northern Ghour from the point of view of their teachers. In addition to the most important challenges faced by science teachers in activating the school laboratory in the educational process. The research was based on the descriptive analytical method. The researcher took out the questionnaire a tool to take opinions of the sample of 23 teachers. The results of the research showed that the effect of using science laboratories to support the learning of basic school students in the northern Jordan Valley from the viewpoint of their teachers at the level of the overall tool got a total average (3.63 out of 5) with an estimate (high), and at the level of fields; knowledge building got the highest average ( 3.91) followed by the field of developing social skills with an average of (3.61), both of which are rated (high) and finally the field of developing performance skills with an average of (3.39) and an estimate of (medium), as it was found that there were no statistically significant differences at the level (0.05 ≤α) Supporting primary school students' learning in northern Jordan Valley schools from the viewpoint of high school teachers Due to the change of gender or academic qualification. The researcher recommended equipping schools with scientific equipment and means and Holding training courses for teachers to use the laboratory.

Data of high spatial and temporal resolution, and a special sampling program are essential for successful application of mathematical models designed to reproduce observed seasonal patterns of temperature, dissolved oxygen, nutrients, pH, and algal biomass for both vertical and longitudinal gradients in a water body. Lake Kinneret suspended solids are of great potential value for estimating transport, exposure to water body elements, and fate of many toxic substances. Therefore the distribution of admixtures in two longitudinal and five vertical segmentation schemes were examined with the two-dimensional water body quality box model “BETTER” (Bender et al, 1990). The transects were taken in the north-western part of Lake Kinneret close to the Jordan River mouth and the National Water Carrier (NWC) head pumping station. The outflow volumes were given according to regular sampling of natural speed of water outflow from different lake layers under calm conditions. Temporal distribution of mixing concentrations as well as turbulent diffusion horizontal coefficients due to the spatial distribution of turbulent scale were obtained during the model's run with the December 1991 data.

  The study aimed to identify the reality of educational transformations for primary school students in light of the Corona pandemic from the point of view of school principals in the Northern Jordan Valley. A number of (35) principals in the Northern Jordan Valley were chosen intentionally, and the study reached the following results: the results of the interviews of the respondents showed that the educational relations were limited and transformed from the school system with its elements to the home system with its elements, and to the transfer of the process of receiving the educational authority From administrators and teachers in the school to parents and older brothers at home, and because of the shift in the spatial presence and the abolition of the role of the director and the teacher as an educational process and its transfer to the educational platforms that came during the Corona pandemic, the educational burden and follow-up became entrusted to a very high rate estimated at (80%). As the student’s dependence on himself and his parents, and in light of the results of the study, the researcher made several recommendations for the need to conduct more studies and research Related to the educational reality and its transformations in light of the Corona pandemic at other age and educational stages, and the need to think of solutions to students’ problems resulting from their confinement to educational platforms and their lack of mixing with their peers.

A total of 27 samples of the Moschopotamos area lignite-bearing strata were studied in regard of their geochemical and sedimentary characteristics. Organic content and calcium carbonate evaluation, sieve analysis and micropaleontological observations were used and combined to investigate the paleoenvironment and the depositional conditions of the study area. TOC analysis showed that organic matter values range from 0.07% up to 13.42% with an average of ~3.26 %. The high average of organic carbon content indicates a promising basis for the sediments’ source rock potential, inquiring further and thorough examination. CaCO3 measurements present a range between 4% and 23%. A comparison between TOC-CaCO3 content throughout the stratigraphic column presented certain synchronous and inverse trends, due to alterations of the depositional conditions. This study provides new insights for the understanding of the broader Axios-Thermaikos basin, and depositional conditions in the North Aegean area.

A comprehensive regional investigation of the Eagle Ford Shale linking productivity to porosity-thickness (PHIH), lithology ([Formula: see text]), pore volume (PHIT), organic matter (TOC), and water-saturation ([Formula: see text]) variations has not been presented to date. Therefore, isopach maps across the Eagle Ford Shale play west of the San Marcos Arch were constructed using thickness and log-calculated attributes such as TOC, [Formula: see text], [Formula: see text], and porosity to identify sweet spots and spatial distribution of these geologic characteristics that influence productivity in shale plays. The Upper Cretaceous Eagle Ford Shale in South Texas is an organic-rich, calcareous mudrock deposited during a second-order transgression of global sea level on a carbonate-dominated shelf updip from the older Sligo and Edwards (Stuart City) reef margins. Lithology and organic-matter deposition were controlled by fluvial input from the Woodbine delta in the northeast, upwelling along the Cretaceous shelf edge, and volcanic and clastic input from distant Laramide events to the north and west. Local oxygen minimum events along the South Texas margin contributed to the preservation of this organic-rich source rock related to the Cenomanian/Turonian global organic anoxic event (OAE2). Paleogeographic and deep-seated tectonic elements controlled the variations of lithology, amount and distribution of organic matter, and facies that have a profound impact on production quality. Petrophysical modeling was conducted to calculate total organic carbon, water saturation, lithology, and porosity of the Eagle Ford Group. Thickness maps, as well as PHIH maps, show multiple sweet spots across the study area. Components of the database were used as variables in kriging, and multivariate statistical analyses evaluated the impact of these variables on productivity. For example, TOC and clay volume ([Formula: see text]) show an inverse relationship that is related to production. Mapping petrophysical parameters across a play serves as a tool to predict geologic drivers of productivity across the Eagle Ford taking the geologic heterogeneity into account.

We describe a 1,400 million-year old (Ma) iron formation (IF) from the Xiamaling Formation of the North China Craton. We estimate this IF to have contained at least 520 gigatons of authigenic Fe, comparable in size to many IFs of the Paleoproterozoic Era (2,500–1,600 Ma). Therefore, substantial IFs formed in the time window between 1,800 and 800 Ma, where they are generally believed to have been absent. The Xiamaling IF is of exceptionally low thermal maturity, allowing the preservation of organic biomarkers and an unprecedented view of iron-cycle dynamics during IF emplacement. We identify tetramethyl aryl isoprenoid (TMAI) biomarkers linked to anoxygenic photosynthetic bacteria and thus phototrophic Fe oxidation. Although we cannot rule out other pathways of Fe oxidation, iron and organic matter likely deposited to the sediment in a ratio similar to that expected for anoxygenic photosynthesis. Fe reduction was likely a dominant and efficient pathway of organic matter mineralization, as indicated by organic matter maturation by Rock Eval pyrolysis combined with carbon isotope analyses: Indeed, Fe reduction was seemingly as efficient as oxic respiration. Overall, this Mesoproterozoic-aged IF shows many similarities to Archean-aged (>2,500 Ma) banded IFs (BIFs), but with an exceptional state of preservation, allowing an unprecedented exploration of Fe-cycle dynamics in IF deposition.
