In order to ensure the success of medical and occupational rehabilitation, the BGW – the occupational insurer – offers its clients to accompany them at the workplace. This aims at transferring the working methods, which the rehabilitant has acquired during rehabilitation and are therefore partly new to him, into operational practice and at verifying their fitness for practical applicability. Apart from that, this shall facilitate to identify factors jeopardizing reintegration and to beneficially influence them, if possible.Work is resumed with the approval by the client in question and their employer, accompanied by a specialized workplace attendant. Depending on the severity of the health impairment and on the prevailing contextual factors, such care is provided on an hourly or daily basis for one or up to several weeks.Thereby, the workplace attendant refers the client to the most reasonable and gentle mode of working that is possible. Moreover, the workplace attendant takes care of potential difficulties arising during the stage of resuming employment, in order to work out strategies early on for ensuring the success of rehabilitation and for transferring such strategies to operational practice, jointly with all parties involved, including the BGW rehab managers. The potential need for qualification, following the motto of “Occupational placement comes before qualification”, is thereby identified at an early stage and in a purposeful way.Principal Experience and Summary: Workplace care facilitates highly practice‐oriented reintegration; Difficulties in the reintegration process are identified at an early stage; Workplace accompaniment gears prevention very effectively to rehabilitation. Clients as well as employers perceive such support provided by the BGW as being sensible and helpful.

Over recent years, massive open online courses (MOOCs) have gained increasing popularity in the field of online education. Students with different needs and learning specificities are able to attend a wide range of specialized online courses offered by universities and educational institutions. As a result, large amounts of data regarding students’ demographic characteristics, activity patterns, and learning performances are generated and stored in institutional repositories on a daily basis. Unfortunately, a key issue in MOOCs is low completion rates, which directly affect student success. Therefore, it is of utmost importance for educational institutions and faculty members to find more effective practices and reduce non-completer ratios. In this context, the main purpose of the present study is to employ a plethora of state-of-the-art supervised machine learning algorithms for predicting student dropout in a MOOC for smart city professionals at an early stage. The experimental results show that accuracy exceeds 96% based on data collected during the first week of the course, thus enabling effective intervention strategies and support actions.

Purpose The purpose of this paper is to build a research model to examine the effects of business planning on the new venture emergence, as well as to examine the moderating effects of innovativeness of products. Design/methodology/approach Four hypotheses are put forward and examined by hierarchical binary logistic regression. The data of this paper are based on the first two waves of data from Chinese Panel Study of Entrepreneurial Dynamics project. Findings Results show that engaging in business planning has a positive effect on the new venture emergence, and the timing of business planning does not affect the new venture emergence significantly. This study also finds that the innovativeness of products has a positive moderating effect on the relationship between the timing of business planning and the new venture emergence. Research limitations/implications This study has some limitations. The innovativeness of products is measured by a single indicator, which may not completely reflect the meaning of the attribute. Moreover, this study explores new ventures only in the nascent stage. Practical implications The study is useful for entrepreneurs to realize the importance of business planning. First, engaging in business planning in early start-up stage is a very valuable activity, because business planning can help new ventures reduce the loss caused by trial and error learning. Second, engaging in business planning is more likely to ensure high innovative products quickly be accepted by the market. Because in the process of new venture emergence, the legitimacy signal to stakeholders can be transmitted and new products can be promoted to get support and recognition from stakeholder through the business plan. Originality/value This paper focuses on the early stage of new venture life cycle and the contextual factors to explore the influence of business planning on the new venture emergence under the logic of legitimacy. This paper could enrich business planning research from the perspective of legitimacy theory by inspiring scholars to focus on the differences between new ventures and mature enterprises and to offer proposals of legitimation strategies suitable for new ventures. Meanwhile, this study contributes to the understanding of the contextual factors of business planning. And it discusses the impact of the attribute in business planning on the new venture emergence, which helps scholars to get a deep thought about the value of business planning in entrepreneurial process.

The Maudsley Hospital, reopened in January 1923, became the centre of British psychiatric research and achieved a world-wide reputation. At a time when women were rare in psychiatry, New Zealand-born Mary Barkas was the only woman (and psychoanalyst) among the first four psychiatrists appointed. This paper looks at her role in the early years at the Maudsley. The letters she wrote to her father, often on a daily basis, provide a unique insight to the earliest years of the hospital that was to have such an influence on British psychiatry. It is the only insider record we have of this crucial time. Barkas demonstrated her versatility in psychiatry and child psychiatry. She used psychoanalysis to treat her patients, receiving recognition from her colleagues. Her work in this field proved to be an exception as analysis was not practiced after she left the Maudsley. Her problem was the institutionalised prejudice against women in psychiatry, which caused her to leave. Her career was terminated at an early stage and her life took a puzzling turn after she returned to New Zealand in 1933. We can remember Mary Barkas as a forgotten psychiatric pioneer whose life and work deserves to be more widely known and recognised.

Ocean wave power is still in its infancy. New systems are conceptualized on nearly a daily basis. The systems vary wildly in complexity and scope, but share one common trait; they have never been built. This scenario is ripe with massive financial risk and of course the possibility of reward. Providing an early stage failure and safety analysis could greatly improve the design process by identifying potential weak points in the system prior to the costly build and testing stages of product development. More broadly, determining potentially successful conceptual designs which should be pursued becomes critical. However, there is currently no tool readily available for such a task. In this paper, we adapt and simplify function-based modeling and analysis to fill this void. Completing a function based failure analysis allows engineers to evaluate the dependencies and fault tolerance of their system early in the design stage. This process aids in catching design problems when they are still relatively cheap to address. This paper proposes the System Functionality Method for conceptual design stage analysis. This proposed method places systems and subsystems in a flow (mass, energy, and signal) based on their location, and assigns functionality numbers to help describe their contribution to the system. Component or sub-system faults are then used to determine the effect on other components and the system as a whole. The process is unique in its simplicity and adaptability to the conceptual stage of designing wave energy technologies.

We live in a world of digital information communication and digital data storage. Following the development of technology, demands from the user side also pose serious challenges for developers, both in the field of hardware and software development. However, the increasing penetration of the Internet, IoT and digital solutions that have become available in almost every segment of life, carries risks as well as benefits. In this study, the authors present the phenomenon of ransomware attacks that appear on a daily basis, which endangers the operation and security of the digital sphere of both small and large enterprises and individuals. An overview of ransomware attacks, the tendency and characteristics of the attacks, which have caused serious financial loss and other damages to the victims, are presented. This manuscript also provides a brief overview of protection against ransomware attacks and the software and hardware options that enhance general user security and their effectiveness as standalone applications. The authors present the results of the study, which aimed to explore how the available software and hardware devices can implement digital user security. Based on the results of the research, the authors propose a complex system that can be used to increase the efficiency of network protection and OS protection tools already available to improve network security, and to detect ransomware attacks early. As a result, the model of the proposed protection system is presented, and it can be stated that the complex system should be able to detect ransomware attacks from either the Internet or the internal network at an early stage, mitigate malicious processes and maintain data in recoverable state.

Abstract Purpose To investigate the oncologic and reproductive outcome of a conservative treatment with progestin agents in early-stage grade 1 endometrial cancer (G1EC), grade 2 endometrial cancer (G2EC) or complex atypical hyperplasia (CAH) in young premenopausal women. Methods Women treated for early-stage endometrial cancer or atypical hyperplasia of the endometrium with a conservative therapy between 2006 and 2018 were enrolled in this retrospective analysis. Progestin agents were orally administered on a daily basis for 3 months for at least one cycle. Endometrial tissue was obtained by hysteroscopy and Dilatation & Curettage (D&C) being performed before and after end of treatment. Therapeutic response was assessed by pathological examination. Results A total of 14 patients were included. After treatment with progestin agents, 11 of these patients initially showed a complete or partial response. Three patients with early-stage endometrial cancer did not respond. Of the three patients with initially diagnosed atypical hyperplasia, none showed any remaining disease later. Of the eight patients with initially diagnosed endometrial cancer, who had responded to first treatment, three patients were re-diagnosed with endometrial cancer later. One patient with initial endometrial cancer became pregnant but aborted in the 10th week. Conclusion Due to its good efficacy, progestin agents offer a feasible therapeutic option in the fertility-preserving treatment of early-stage endometrial cancer in young premenopausal women. However, recurrence rate remains high. Therefore, a close follow-up is mandatory, also in responders. Patients should be informed of limitations and risks of conservative treatment. Yet after completion of family planning, hysterectomy should be performed.

There is plenty of proof that environmental noise is a major pollutant in the urban environment. Several approaches were successfully applied for its calculation, visualization, prediction and mitigation. The goal of all strategy plans regards its reduction and the creation of quietness. This study aims to revisit the concept of quietness in the urban environment and attempts to portray a new understanding of the specific phenomena. “Quietness” as a term retains an ambiguity, and so far, it can be described as the lack of something, meaning the lack of noise that is portrayed by means of intensity. Several studies describe quietness as the combination of perceptual soundscape elements and contextual factors that can be quantified, combined, weighed and used as indicators of healthy soundscapes. In this research, the focus is on setting aside all indicators, either measuring the intensity or contextual ones and use solely quantifiable metrics regarding the acoustic environment, thus introducing a new composite index called the composite urban quietness index (CUQI). After testing the CUQI, in order to verify the results of previous research regarding the identification of quiet Areas in the city of Mytilene (Lesbos Island, Greece), the study concludes that CUQI is efficiently functioning even in this early stage of development.

Abstract Introduction. Urinary incontinence refers to men and women, no matter what age they are. Due to the anatomical structure and biological function of women, they suffer from urinary incontinence more often than men. This disorder occurs widely, affecting many women, mainly in the perimenopausal age, and it increases with age. Aim. Analysis of the problem of urinary incontinence among women on the base of not systematic review of the literature. Summary. In the literature, it is highlighted that urinary incontinence of women is linked between the quality of life and the onset of symptoms, including functioning limitations on daily basis. It is a serious health and social problem among women. Conservative treatment in early stage of urinary incontinence may be an effective form of therapy. There is a need to prevent and educate the society in terms of shaping appropriate attitudes and behavioral health, including conservative methods in the treatment of urinary incontinence.
