In this work, we analyze ergodic properties of certain partially hyperbolic attractors whose central direction has a neutral behavior; the main feature is a condition of transversality between the projections of unstable leaves, projecting through the stable foliation. We prove that partial hyperbolic attractors satisfying this condition of transversality, neutrality in the central direction and regularity of the stable foliation admit a finite number of physical measures, coinciding with the ergodic u-Gibbs States, whose union of the basins has full Lebesgue measure. Moreover, we describe the construction of robustly non-hyperbolic attractors satisfying these properties.

AbstractWe study ergodic properties of invariant measures for the partially hyperbolic horseshoes, introduced in Díaz et al [Destroying horseshoes via heterodimensional cycles: generating bifurcations inside homoclinic classes. Ergod. Th. & Dynam. Sys. 29 (2009), 433–474]. These maps have a one-dimensional center direction Ec, and are at the boundary of the (uniformly) hyperbolic diffeomorphisms (they are constructed bifurcating hyperbolic horseshoes via heterodimensional cycles). We prove that every ergodic measure is hyperbolic, but the set of Lyapunov exponents in the central direction has gap: all ergodic invariant measures have negative exponent, with the exception of one ergodic measure with positive exponent. As a consequence, we obtain the existence of equilibrium states for any continuous potential. We also prove that there exists a phase transition for the smooth family of potentials given by ϕt=t log ∣DF∣Ec∣.

We consider partially hyperbolic attractors for non-singular endomorphisms admitting an invariant stable bundle and a positively invariant cone field with non-uniform cone expansion at a positive Lebesgue measure set of points. We prove volume lemmas for both Lebesgue measure on the topological basin of the attractor and the SRB measure supported on the attractor. As a consequence, under a mild assumption we prove exponential large-deviation bounds for the convergence of Birkhoff averages associated to continuous observables with respect to the SRB measure.

It is well known that it is possible to construct a partially hyperbolic diffeomorphism on the 3-torus in a similar way to Kan’s example. It has two hyperbolic physical measures with intermingled basins supported on two embedded tori with Anosov dynamics. A natural question is how robust is the intermingled basin phenomenon for diffeomorphisms defined on boundaryless manifolds? In this work we study partially hyperbolic diffeomorphisms on the 3-torus and show that the intermingled basin phenomenon is not robust.

AbstractWe study the integrability of intermediate distributions for Anosov diffeomorphisms and provide an example of a C∞-Anosov diffeomorphism on a three-dimensional torus whose intermediate stable foliation has leaves that admit only a finite number of derivatives. We also show that this phenomenon is quite abundant. In dimension four or higher this can happen even if the Lyapunov exponents at periodic orbits are constant.

We contribute to the thermodynamic formalism of partially hyperbolic attractors for local diffeomorphisms admitting an invariant stable bundle and a positively invariant cone field with non-uniform cone expansion at a positive Lebesgue measure set of points. These include the case of attractors for Axiom A endomorphisms and partially hyperbolic endomorphisms derived from Anosov. We prove these attractors have finitely many SRB measures, that these are hyperbolic, and that the SRB measure is unique provided the dynamics is transitive. Moreover, we show that the SRB measures are statistically stable (in the weak$^{\ast }$ topology) and that their entropy varies continuously with respect to the local diffeomorphism.

We construct a continuous functionf:[0,1]→Rsuch thatfpossessesN-1-property, butfdoes not have approximate derivative on a set of full Lebesgue measure. This shows that Banach’s Theorem concerning differentiability of continuous functions with Lusin’s property(N)does not hold forN-1-property. Some relevant properties are presented.

Let $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}\in (1,2)$ be a real number. For a function $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9}:\mathbb{N}\rightarrow \mathbb{R}_{\geq 0}$, define $W_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9})$ to be the set of $x\in \mathbb{R}$ such that for infinitely many $n\in \mathbb{N},$ there exists a sequence $(\unicode[STIX]{x1D716}_{i})_{i=1}^{n}\in \{0,1\}^{n}$ satisfying $0\leq x-\sum _{i=1}^{n}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D716}_{i}/\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}^{i})\leq \unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9}(n)$. In Baker [Approximation properties of $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}$-expansions. Acta Arith. 168 (2015), 269–287], the author conjectured that for Lebesgue almost every $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}\in (1,2)$, the condition $\sum _{n=1}^{\infty }2^{n}\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9}(n)=\infty$ implies that $W_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9})$ is of full Lebesgue measure within $[0,1/(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}-1)]$. In this paper we make a significant step towards proving this conjecture. We prove that given a sequence of positive real numbers $(\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}_{n})_{n=1}^{\infty }$ satisfying $\lim _{n\rightarrow \infty }\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}_{n}=\infty$, for Lebesgue almost every $\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}\in (1.497,\ldots ,2)$, the set $W_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D714}_{n}\cdot 2^{-n})$ is of full Lebesgue measure within $[0,1/(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}-1)]$. We also study the case where $\sum _{n=1}^{\infty }2^{n}\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9}(n)<\infty$ in which the set $W_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9})$ has Lebesgue measure zero. Applying the mass transference principle developed by Beresnevich and Velani in [A mass transference principle and the Duffin–Schaeffer conjecture for Hausdorff measures. Ann. of Math. (2) 164(3) (2006), 971–992], we obtain some results on the Hausdorff dimension and the Hausdorff measure of $W_{\unicode[STIX]{x1D6FD}}(\unicode[STIX]{x1D6F9})$.
