Background: Endometriosis is defined as the presence of functioning endometrial tissue in extra uterine structures that causes pain, infertility and reduced quality of life. Diet plays an important role in the modulation of endometriosis. Aim: This study aimed to evaluate the association between the dietary inflammatory index (DII) score and the endometriosis compared to healthy people in a case-control study in Iran. Methods: This study included 78 women with laparoscopically confirmed endometriosis and 78 women with normal pelvis. The DII was calculated from dietary intake assessed using a validated food frequency questionnaire. The association between DII scores (divided in tertiles) and endometriosis risk was investigated using logistic regression analysis and reported as odds ratios (ORs) and 95% confidence intervals (CI) adjusted for age, energy, BMI, education, para, smoking, pelvic pain, menorrhagia, stage of endometriosis, physical activity, and income. Results: In the age-adjusted models, subjects who consumed more pro-inflammatory diets (the upper tertile of DII) had an OR of 2.24 (95% CI = 2.03, 3.91) as compared to subjects in the lowest tertile. Also after multivariable adjustment, women in the highest tertile of DII (versus lowest tertile) were more likely to have endometriosis (OR 2.63; 95% CI 1.88–2.91, p = 0.004). Conclusion: Our results suggest that women with more consumption of pro-inflammatory diet were at increased endometriosis risk.

AbstractFoot problems are highly prevalent conditions, being a frequent reason for medical and podiatric consultation. The aim of this study was to compare the differences of quality of life (QoL) related to foot health in people with and without the presence of foot problems. A case–control study was carried out in an outpatient centre, where a clinician recorded data related to sociodemographic and clinical characteristics. In addition, self-reported data on foot health-related quality of life were recorded using the Spanish version of the Foot Health Status Questionnaire. The sample consisted of 498 participants (249 cases and 249 controls), with a median age of 30 years and an interquartile range of 23 years. The differences between the groups were statistically significant for gender, age, footwear, general health, foot health, and physical activity. Cases showed lower scores for the domain of footwear, physical activity and vitality compared to controls. Foot pathologies have a negative impact on quality of life related to foot health, and the domains of footwear, general health and physical activity seem to be the factors that are associated with the presence of alterations and foot deformities.

Background: Diabetic neuropathy is one among the most common complication in diabetes mellitus. Diabetic peripheral neuropathy hinders the quality of life causing morbidity and mortality. The purpose of this study was to find the risk factors associated with diabetic neuropathy.Methods: This case control study involved 100 diabetic patients attending the Dohnavur fellowship hospital, Dohnavur from October 2019 to March 2020. Sociodemographic profile and diabetic characteristics of the study group were obtained and analysed. Diagnosis of Diabetic Neuropathy was done by using the diagnostic method proposed by American Diabetic Association.Results: Of the total study population with mean age 59.43 years, 63% had family history of diabetes. Almost 70% had poor diabetic control. Statistically significant relationships were found between neuropathy and duration of diabetes, glycaemic control, history of hypertension, monofilament test and pinprick sensation.Conclusions: In this study, glycemic control, dyslipidemia and hypertension were modifiable risk factors for diabetic neuropathy. Early interventional programs to sensitize diabetics on these factors could improve the quality of life of Diabetic patients.
