A new lateral coupling structure with independently rotating wheels (IRW) is proposed, and longitudinal creepage is obtained by replacing the gear pair with the friction pair to synchronize the rotation speed of left and right wheels. The auxiliary wheelset made up of two friction wheels can be placed either under the primary suspension or on the frame. Vehicles dynamics models with three different kinds of bogies are developed, including friction coupling bogie with independently rotating wheels (FCIRW-bogie), bogie with independently rotating wheels (IRW-bogie), and bogie with rigid wheelsets, and their guiding and resetting capability when negotiating large-radius curves are compared and analyzed. Results show that FCIRW has the advantages of both IRW and rigid wheelset. On the straight track, FCIRW has sufficient wheel-rail longitudinal creep force to assist the reset; its critical speed is much higher than that of the rigid wheelset. On the curved track, the whole vehicle wear power of FCIRW-bogie vehicle is about 2/3 of the rigid axle level.

ABSTRACTLateral coupling between separate quantum dots has been observed in a system of In0.55A10.45As self-assembled quantum dots. The experiment was performed by taking photoluminescence excitation (PLE) spectra in the optical near-field at 4.2 K. The high spatial resolution afforded by the near-field technique allows us to resolve individual dots in a density regime where interactions between neighboring dots become apparent. In the PLE spectra, narrow resonances are observed in the emission lines of individual dots. A large fraction of these resonances occur simultaneously in several emission lines, originating from different quantum dots. This is evidence of interdot scattering of carriers, which additional data show to be mediated by localized states at energies below the wetting layer exciton energy. A very rich phonon spectrum generated by the complicated interfaces between barrier and dot material is also evident in the data.

We report simultaneous crystal growth and deposition of upconverting Yb3+/Er3+ doped NaYF4 film (UCF) on conducting and non-conducting substrates by one-step hydrothermal method. The characteristics such as film topography, morphology, crystallographic phase and upconverting luminescence intensity were found to depend both on the chelating agent and nature of the substrate. The characteristics of the prepared films varied interestingly when either the chelating agent or the substrate was changed. The upconversion emission intensities were found to increase with decreasing film roughness. Further, current investigation demonstrated that the NaYF4 films deposited using EDTA or DTPA chelating agents on ITO substrate and EGTA chelating agent on PG substrate were more uniform and resulted in greater upconverted emission intensities. We envision plausible use of current technology in the development of affordable optical platforms for several optoelectronic applications.
