GaAs layers grown by MBE at low temperatures (in the 200°C range, LT-GaAs) have been reported to have very interesting electronic and transport properties. Previous studies have shown that, before annealing, the crystalline quality of the layers is related to the growth temperature. Lowering the temperature or increasing the layer thickness generally results in some columnar polycrystalline growth. For the best “temperature-thickness” combinations, the layers may be very As rich (up to 1.25%) resulting in an up to 0.15% increase of the lattice parameter, consistent with the excess As. Only after annealing are the technologically important semi-insulating properties of these layers observed. When annealed in As atmosphere at about 600°C a decrease of the lattice parameter to the substrate value is observed. TEM studies show formation of precipitates which are supposed to be As related since the average As concentration remains almost unchanged upon annealing.

ABSTRACTThe influence of growth temperature on oxygen incorporation into GaN epitaxial layers was studied. GaN layers deposited at low temperatures were characterized by much higher oxygen concentration than those deposited at high temperature typically used for epitaxial growth. GaN buffer layers (HT GaN) about 1 μm thick were deposited on GaN nucleation layers (NL) with various thicknesses. The influence of NL thickness on crystalline quality and oxygen concentration of HT GaN layers were studied using RBS and SIMS. With increasing thickness of NL the crystalline quality of GaN buffer layers deteriorates and the oxygen concentration increases. It was observed that oxygen atoms incorporated at low temperature in NL diffuse into GaN buffer layer during high temperature growth as a consequence GaN NL is the source for unintentional oxygen doping.

Abstract Studies on adaptation to the cultivation site are necessary for the recommendation of new cultivars. The aim of this study was to evaluate the phenological development, productivity and fruit quality of eight blueberry cultivars from the rabbiteye group (Aliceblue, Bluebelle, Bluegem, Briteblue, Climax, Delite, Powderblue and Woodard) and two from the highbush group (Georgiagem and O’Neal) under humid subtropical conditions in the 2012/2013, 2013/2014 and 2014/2015 cycles. Beginning and end of flowering, beginning and end of harvesting, fruit set, production, mass, diameter, pH, content of soluble solids, titratable acidity, ratio and coloring were evaluated. The evaluated cultivars presented flowering in the period from July to September, concentrating harvest in the months of November and December. The highest fruit set was observed in Delite, Climax, Briteblue and Powderblue cultivars. There were differences among cultivars regarding fruit mass, size, pH, content of soluble solids and acidity. The results showed that the cultivars exhibited blue color with few variations over the evaluation years. Cultivars with the best productive performance under humid subtropical climate conditions are Bluegem, Delite, Climax and Powderblue.

Effect of different fertilizers on the control of anthracnose disease, yield and quality of mango cv Amrapali was investigated. Application of combined fertilizers gave the highest fruit set, fruit retention and fresh fruits, therefore, produced the highest yield per plant and per hectare. The highest number of healthy fruits was found from 2nd year crop and the lowest was obtained from 1st year. The highest (8.47 t/ha) yield was obtained from 2nd year and the lowest (4.58 t/ha) was obtained from 1st year crop. Among the treatments, combined application of NPK, ZnSo4, Gypsum and Cowdung gave the highest (50.67) number of healthy fruits and the lowest (16) was obtained from untreated plant. The highest (12.41 t/ha) yield was obtained from combined application of NPK, ZnSo4, Gypsum and Cowdung and the lowest (3.88 t/ha) was obtained from untreated plant. In respect of combined effect, the highest (15.22 t/ha) yield was obtained from 2nd year x T9 treated plant and the lowest (2.95 t/ha) was found in untreated 1st year plant. Abstract The determination of the drying temperature and time depends to the characteristic of the mushrooms. The use of low temperatures causes the mushrooms to not fully ripen, if the temperature is too high the protein contained in the mushrooms can be denatured and drying too long will change the color of the mushrooms to brown and change its taste. Research on the processing of oyster mushrooms as a raw material for natural flavoring, it is carried out to determine the quality flavoring produced through a descriptive test of the test parameters, color, aroma, taste and texture by variations the temperature 60¼C and 70¼C in drying time 6, 7 and 8 hours. The results of descriptive test of the sixth color of the flavoring have an intensity of attractive colors are light brown; Descriptive taste test F1, F2 and F5 have the intensity of the taste is rather pleasant, the umami is weak while F3, F4 and F6 have taste is quite good, umami tastes; Descriptive test of the six flavoring textures has a good intensity and; Descriptive test of the sixth aroma of flavoring has a slightly fragrant aroma intensity, the aroma of the material is not too smelly. The conclusion of the research is that temperature and drying time do not affect quality of color, aroma and texture. However, they affect the taste where the temperature 60¼C for 8 hours and a temperature of 70¼C within 7 and 8 hours have enough delicious taste with tasteful umami.

The study was carried out during summer of 2012 with BARI hybrid tomato 4, planted in the Olericulture farm of Bangladesh Agriculture Research Institute, Joydebpur, Gazipur, Bangladesh to find out the response of plants to some staking and pruning treatments on yield, fruit quality and cost of production. A two factor experiment consisting of three staking methods and four level of pruning, laid out in complete block design with three repetitions. Plants were staked on inverted „V? shaped staking, high platform and string. The plants were pruned to two stem, three stem, four stem and no pruning as control. Results showed that significantly the highest total number of fruits per plant (37.1), marketable fruits per plant (33.7), yield per plant (1.68 kg) and total yield (44.6 t/ha) were produced by the plants having the treatment string staking with four stem. The highest fruit set (43.50%) was found in the plants staking with string having three stems. Plants grown on string staking allowing two stem gave the maximum length (4.71 cm), diameter (4.83 cm) and weight (53.4g) of single fruit as well as maximum fruit firmness (3.43 kg-f cm-2). From the economic point of view, it was apparent that summer tomato produced by string staking with four stem pruning exhibited better performance compared to other treatment combinations in relation to net return and BCR (2.10).Bangladesh J.
