Substituted iron and cobalt phthalocyanines are easily prepared by microwave irradiation of the starting materials under solvent free condition, which reduced reaction time considerably. The synthesized metallophthalocyanines (octachloro-, tetranitro-, tetracarboxy- or polyphthalocyanine) are used as epoxidation catalysts of cyclooctene in homogeneous and heterogeneous conditions by iodosylbenzene as an oxidant. Their catalytic activities have shown that the electron withdrawing groups on the phthalocyanine ring have a very small effect on stability of the catalyst during the reactions.

The microwave-assisted synthesis of a series of acylphenothiazine derivatives is described. 10H-Phenothiazine-3-carbaldehyde derivatives were obtained in moderate yields by the Duff formylation reaction, and 10-acetyl-phenothiazine derivatives were obtained in excellent yields by acetylating phenothiazine derivatives with acetic anhydride. A theoretical explanation for the chemoselectivity and regioselectivity of these acylation reactions applied to phenothiazine substrates was attempted by molecular-modeling analyses based on molecular mechanics, and semi-empirical and DFT calculations.

Hydrogen production from NaBH4 hydrolysis is very important for environment-friendly fuel cells. Here Ni/CNTs nanocomposites were prepared by microwave-assisted method and used as the catalyst for catalytic hydrolysis of NaBH4. XRD and SEM characterization showed that uniform Ni/CNTs nanocomposites can be obtained through microwave heating and solvent optimization. Ni/CNTs nanocomposites exhibit excellent catalytic activity in the hydrolysis of NaBH4, i.e., the average hydrogen generation rate at 25°C is 840ml.min-1.g-1 for the CNTs-supported Ni/CNTs, while the hydrogen generation rate of 86ml.min-1.g-1 for unsupported Ni catalyst. Compared with the unsupported Ni catalyst, Ni/CNTs nanocomposites presented higher catalytic activity for hydrolysis of aqueous NaBH4 solution.
