Two A–π–D–π–A carbazole derivatives differing in N-hexyl and N-isooctyl substituents were developed. They exhibited a prominent solvatochromic effect and luminescence turn-on characteristics under mechanical force stimuli.

Six-membered diaza ring of Cinnoline have been fused on Naphthalimide dye to give donor–acceptor system called CinNapht. These red shifted fluorophore, that can be synthetised in gram scale, exhibits a large Stoke Shift and quantum yield up to 0.33.
