Semarang City Public Works Department is a state-owned enterprise that works in the area of public services in the city of Semarang. Most of the technological conditions in the Public Works Department are still in manual data management, which is hampering business processes from going well. Therefore this research was conducted to design an Information System at the Semarang City Public Works Department using the Enterprise Architecture Planning (EAP) method which includes a SWOT analysis and Value Chain analysis. The existing framework in the Enterprise Architecture Planning (EAP) method can help align the data architecture and application architecture to get the expected results, which is achieving the business objectives of the City of Semarang Public Works Department so that business functions can run by the desired business processes. This research resulted in several proposals for the development of Information Systems and Information Technology in organizations including the development of several applications in the next 5 years.

With the advancement of technology, patient information has been being computerized in order to facilitate the work of healthcare professionals and improve the quality of healthcare delivery. However, there are many heterogeneous information systems that need to communicate, sharing information and making it available when and where it is needed. To respond to this requirement the Agency for Integration, Diffusion, and Archiving of medical information (AIDA) was created, a multi-agent and service-based platform that ensures interoperability among healthcare information systems. In order to improve the performance of the platform, beyond the SWOT analysis performed, a system to prevent failures that may occur in the platform database and also in machines where the agents are executed was created. The system has been implemented in the Centro Hospitalar do Porto (one of the major Portuguese hospitals), and it is now possible to define critical workload periods of AIDA, improving high availability and load balancing. This is explored in this chapter.

Retractable hydrofoils may enhance performances of seaplane during take-off and landing runs by lowering the speed when the hull is leaving or touching water surface. Hydrofoils are designed to complement airlift with additional hydrodynamic lift elevating the hull above the water at a speed lower than take-off speed; this minimizes slamming phenomenon on the hull, improving seakeeping capability of the seaplane, since water impacts are minimized compared to conventional configuration and, as a consequence, forces and accelerations on airframe, crew and passengers are reduced. This is of foremost importance on ultralight seaplanes, where wave forces acting on the relatively small aircraft mass provide high accelerations and significant roll, pitch and yaw forces that are higher on light aircraft compared to heavy seaplanes. As matter of facts, clear advantage of this configuration is the increase of sea state when a light seaplane can safely fly, providing additional useful days along the year. Important benefit is the improvement of seaplane performances during take-off and landing, reducing duration of the most critical flight phases, increasing overall safety and reducing pilot workload. Further benefits are envisioned, with optimization of wing, empennage and fuselage to minimize aero-drag and, as snow-ball effect, mission fuel consumption and energy power requirements. Life-cycle cost receives benefits too, since less water spray is ingested by engine and less water droplets impinge on fast revolving propeller, thus reducing expensive power plant maintenance cost over the entire service life.

The present study is aimed at achieving main objectives i.e. to study the effect of Inquisitiveness and Attitude on Teaching Effectiveness among pupils' teachers practicing classroom-teaching practices; to study the effect of Inquisitiveness and Attitude on Teaching Effectiveness among pupils teachers practicing online-teaching practices, to explore the effectiveness of online teaching practice, to find out the future horizons of online teaching practice in Indian perspective. The sample of the present study is pupil teacher studying in Dayalbagh Educational Institute Deemed University Agra. 150 pupil teachers practicing classroom teaching and 150 pupil teachers practicing online teaching have been selected. T-Test, Linear Regression and SWOT Analysis have been used as statistical techniques. Pupil teachers possess more positive attitude and inquisitiveness towards online teaching practice in comparison to classroom teaching practice. Inquisitiveness and attitude significantly predicts the teaching effectiveness in online teaching practice and classroom teaching.

For prevention of failure and extension of maintenance interval, many Asian power companies have continuously tried to apply Condition Based Maintenance system to their plants. However, only few companies succeed to change their maintenance system from fixed time based to equipment condition based, although there are many brand new ITs, such as high speed computing system, huge storage device, and advanced development software tools. This paper describes the reasons why they failed to change and proposes the solutions to construct maintenance management system based on equipment condition. The solutions were also applied practically to power plant in Korea.
