The rapid growth of digital multimedia technologies brings tremendous attention to the field of digital authentication. Digital watermarking has become widely recognized as an effective measure for copyright protection of multimedia data. The owner or the distributor of the digital images can insert a unique watermark into copies for different customers or receivers, which will be helpful to identify the source of illegal copies. In this chapter the authors present two original spatial authentication techniques for digital images. These new algorithms yield an invisible watermark that is robust to various kinds of attacks. The main principle is the utilization of a virtual (2D or 3D) graph embedded into the digital images. Then, the colors of some vertices of the virtual graph are slightly modified for obtaining the watermark. The proposed techniques modify pixels or voxels of the object by a spatial watermark insertion scheme. These techniques can be used for all kinds of digital images, color or black and white, and the new algorithms produce an invisible robust watermark. The techniques lower the computational complexity that normally rises with the traditional watermarking algorithms. This approach reduces computation and implementation complexity of the algorithms. These techniques seem to replace advantages of the transform domain techniques with those of the spatial domain techniques.

In recent years, the digital watermarking technology has been widely used for the copyright protection of the digital images, and a lot of the digital watermarking schemes are proposed. This paper studies the application of shuffling techniques in the digital watermarking and proposes a standard measure of the scrambling degree. The criterion measure can help us judge to what extent an image should be scrambled in order to obtain the best robustness. Finally, this paper puts forward two kinds of scrambling technologies applied in the watermarking system, and the experimental results show that the scrambling technology is very effective in keeping resilience to cropping attack.

Information security has become the most needed and challenging problem in this internet based era as most of the communication takes based as digital files across the network. One of the ways to effectively secure the information is to make the information hidden that is being shared. With the mammoth improvement in technology, almost all the information that is being shared is digitized and digital images is one such digital file that is being shared more commonly. Digital watermarking is an effective way of protecting the ownership of the images. This paper aims to improve the information hiding scheme in digital images for sharing information and protecting the ownership of the file by proposing a new methodology to hide the information being shared using both cryptographic and steganographic methods. This paper also compares the performance measure of the proposed methodology with various existing methodologies.

Digital watermarking has been proposed as a solution to the problem of copyright protection of multimedia data in a networked environment. It makes possible to tightly associated to a digital document a code allowing the identification of the data creator, owner, authorized consumer, and so on. In this paper a new DCT-domain system for digital watermarking algorithm for digital images is presented: the method, which operates in the frequency domain, embeds a pseudo-random sequence of scrambled image in a selected set of DCT coefficients. After embedding, the watermark is adapted to the image by exploiting the masking characteristics of the human visual system, thus ensuring the watermark invisibility. By exploiting the statistical properties of the embedded sequence, the mark can be reliably extracted without resorting to the original uncorrupted image. Experimental results demonstrate that the watermark is robust to several signal processing techniques, including JPEG compression, cut, fuzzy, addition of noise, and sharpen.

Abstract Recently, much interest is being taken in a method to protect the copyright of digital data and prevent illegal duplication of it. However, in the area of CAD/CAM and CG, there are no effective ways to protect the copyright of the 3D geometric models. As a first step to solve this problem, a new digital watermarking method for 3D polygonal models is introduced in this paper. Watermarking is one of the copyright protection methods where an invisible watermark is secretly embedded into the original data. The proposed watermarking method is based on the wavelet transform (WT) and multi-resolution representation (MRR) of the polygonal model. The watermark can be embedded in the large wavelet coefficient vectors at various resolution levels of the MRR. This makes the embedded watermark imperceptible and invariant to the affine transformation, and also makes the control of the geometric error caused by the watermarking reliable.
