In this paper, the Einstein AdS black brane solution in the presence of a string cloud in the context of d-dimensional massive gravity is introduced. The ratio of shear viscosity to entropy density for this solution violates the KSS bound by applying the Dirichlet boundary and regularity on the horizon conditions. Our result shows that this value is independent of string cloud in any arbitrary dimensions.

In this paper, we introduced the black brane solution in Rastall theory and in the context of massive gravity. The ratio of shear viscosity to entropy density is calculated for this solution. Our result shows that the KSS bound violates this theory.

In this paper, we formulate a criterion for constructing 11D/10D maximal supergravity black-brane solutions with the near-extremal S~n3T5 entropy-temperature relation. We present explicit examples of such solutions with special attention paid to thermodynamics of black M-waves (KK-waves), intersecting/interpolating black-branes with KK-waves, M2/M5 branes and their descents. We find the conditions on charges and numbers of branes in intersections, under which the dielectric effect of brane polarization becomes manifest on the supergravity side. We also briefly discuss the shear viscosity per entropy bound of M5 and D4 black-branes within the AdS/CFT hydrodynamical limit.

In this paper we consider a metric with hyperscaling violation on a black brane background. In this background we calculate the ratio of shear viscosity to entropy density with hydrodynamics information. The calculation of this quantity leads us to a constraint on θ as 3 ≤ θ < 4, and θ ≤ 0. In that case we show that the quantity η/s is not dependent on hyperscaling violation parameter θ. Our results about ratio of shear viscosity to entropy density from the QCD point of view agree with other works in the literature as 1/4π.

In this paper, the Einstein AdS black brane solution in the presence of quintessence in context of massive gravity is introduced. The ratio of shear viscosity to entropy density for this solution violates the KSS bound by applying the Dirichlet boundary and regularity conditions on the horizon for [Formula: see text]. Our result shows that this value is independent of quintessence in any arbitrary dimensions.

We investigated the reproducibility and validity of a simple method of measuring red cell deformability (filtration of whole blood through 5 µ sieves) and its relationship to haematocrit, blood viscosity, fibrinogen, white cell count, sex and smoking. The mean coefficient of variation in normals was 3. 7%. Tanned red cells showed marked loss of deformability. Blood filtration rate correlated with haematocrit (r = 0. 99 on dilution of samples, r = 0. 7 in 120 normals and patients). After correction for haematocrit, deformability correlated with high shear viscosity, but not low shear viscosity, fibrinogen or white cell count. In 60 normals there was no significant difference between males and females, or smokers and non-smokers, but in 11 smokers there was an acute fall in deformability after smoking 3 cigarettes (p<0. 05). Reduced deformability was found in acute myocardial infarction (n = 15, p<0. 01) and chronic peripheral arterial disease (n = 15, p<0. 01). The technique is reproducible, detects rigid cells and appears useful in the study of vascular disease.
