In this paper we examine T-violating triple-product correlations (TP's) in B→V1V2 decays. TP's are excellent probes of physics beyond the standard model (SM) for two reasons: (i) within the SM, most TP's are expected to be tiny, and (ii) unlike direct CP asymmetries, TP's are not suppressed by the small strong phases which are expected in B decays. TP's are obtained via the angular analysis of B→V1V2. In a general analysis based on factorization, we demonstrate that the most promising decays for measuring TP's in the SM involve excited final-state vector mesons, and we provide estimates of such TP's. We find that there are only a handful of decays in which large TP's are possible, and the size of these TP's depends strongly on the size of nonfactorizable effects. We show that TP's which vanish in the SM can be very large in models with new physics. The measurement of a nonzero TP asymmetry in a decay where none is expected would specifically point to new physics involving large couplings to the right-handed b-quark.

The production of both charged and neutral electroweak gauge bosons in association with b jets has attracted a lot of experimental and theoretical attention in recent years because of its central role in the physics programs of both the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider. The improved level of accuracy achieved both in the theoretical predictions and experimental measurements of these processes can promote crucial developments in modeling b-quark jets and b-quark parton distribution functions, and can provide a more accurate description of some of the most important backgrounds to the measurement of Higgs-boson couplings and several new physics searches. In this paper, we review the status of theoretical predictions for cross sections and kinematic distributions of processes in which an electroweak gauge boson is produced in association with up to two b jets in hadronic collisions, namely [Formula: see text], pp → V + 1b jet and [Formula: see text], pp → V + 2b jets with V = W±, Z/γ*, γ. Available experimental measurements at both the Fermilab Tevatron and the CERN Large Hadron Collider are also reviewed and their comparison with theoretical predictions is discussed.

AbstractNew vector-like quarks are predicted in many new physics scenarios beyond the Standard Model (SM). Based on a model-independent framework, we investigate the prospect of discovering the SU(2) singlet vector-like bottom quark (VLQ-B) in $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ e + e - collisions at 3 TeV Compact Linear Collider. We study the single VLQ-B production process $$e^{-}e^{+}\rightarrow B{\bar{b}}\rightarrow Zb{\bar{b}}$$ e - e + → B b ¯ → Z b b ¯ with two types of decay channel: $$Z\rightarrow \ell ^{+}\ell ^{-}$$ Z → ℓ + ℓ - , and $$Z\rightarrow \nu {\bar{\nu }}$$ Z → ν ν ¯ . By carrying out a full simulation for the signals and the relevant SM backgrounds, the $$2\sigma $$ 2 σ exclusion limit and $$5\sigma $$ 5 σ discovery prospects are, respectively, obtained on the B quark mass and the coupling strength $$g^{*}$$ g ∗ with the integrated luminosity of 5 $$\hbox {ab}^{-1}$$ ab - 1 . Our numerical results show that the possible signals of the singlet VLQ-B might be detected at the future high-energy $$e^{+}e^{-}$$ e + e - linear colliders.

New physics coupled to the Higgs boson may hide it in the standard decay channels to be investigated at LHC. We consider the models where new invisible dominant decay modes of the Higgs boson are responsible for this hiding. We propose to study at LHC the weak boson production associated with heavy quarks: our analysis revealed that boson pair invariant mass distribution is sensitive to both mass and width of the invisible Higgs boson, if it is not too far from the weak boson pair threshold. We present tree-level results for the most relevant cases of top quarks and of bottom quarks in Standard Model extensions with large b-quark Yukawa coupling. We argue that QCD corrections do not spoil these results allowing for unambiguous extraction of the Higgs boson mass and width from the analysis of large enough amount of data.

Overall, the Standard Model describes electroweak precision data rather well. There are however a few areas of tension (charged current universality, NuTeV, (g-2)μ, b quark asymmetries), which I review critically, emphasizing recent theoretical and experimental progress. I also summarize what precision data tell us about the Higgs boson and new physics scenarios. In this context, the role of a precise measurement of the top mass is crucial.

This review discusses the present experimental and theoretical status of rare flavor-changing neutral current b-quark decays at the beginning of 2018. It includes a discussion of the experimental situation and details of the currently observed anomalies in measurements of flavor observables, including lepton flavor universality. Progress on the theory side within and beyond the Standard Model theory is also discussed, together with potential New Physics interpretations of the present measurements.
