An effective field theory with correlations has been used to study the critical behavior of the spin-1 Blume–Capel bilayer Ising model on a square lattice. The effects of the Hamiltonian parameters on thermodynamic quantities and phase diagrams are investigated in detail. We found that the system exhibits the first and the second order transitions as well as tricritical point. Furthermore, we have observed that the change of tricritical point values depends on interaction parameters.

Abstract We analyze interactions between dark matter and standard model particles with spin one mediators in an effective field theory framework. In this paper, we are considering dark particles masses in the range from a few MeV to the mass of the Z boson. We use bounds from different experiments: Z invisible decay width, relic density, direct detection experiments, and indirect detection limits from the search of gamma-ray emissions and positron fluxes. We obtain solutions corresponding to operators with antisymmetric tensor mediators that fulfill all those requirements within our approach.

The effect of the random quantum transverse field Ω on the tricritical behavior of the spin-1 Blume–Emery–Griffiths (BEG) model is studied using an effective field theory. It is found that the tricritical behavior depends on both the biquadratic interaction K, single-ion anisotropy Δ and the concentration p of the disorder of Ω. Indeed, there exists a special value p1 of the probability p below which the tricritical behavior disappears. In addition, at sufficiently low temperatures, the system exhibits long-range order accompanied by the tricritical behavior below a special value p2 of the probability p.
