The preparation and the photoelectric characteristics of molybdenum selenide (MoSe2) films doped with the rare earth element Er3+ are presented herein. The surface mororphology, light absorption and emission of the undoped and Er3+ doped MoSe2 thin films were analyzed, we found that the Er3+ doped MoSe2 films exhibited more crystalline, and their mobility and conductivity were enhanced by about one order higher relative to that of the pure sample. Also, the optical absorptivity and luminous intensity of Er3+ doped MoSe2 were also enhanced by two times than that of the pure MoSe2. In addition, the photovoltaic effect of the Er3+-doped MoSe2 films increased significantly. The short-circuit current increased almost ten-fold, and the open-circuit voltage was enhanced four-fold. These results show that the Er3+ ions not only enhanced the conductivity, but also improved the optical properties of the films. The Er3+ doped MoSe2 may be applied to make sensitive light emitting devices and detectors.

ABSTRACTA new metallo-organic spin-on technique is described for producing thin films of the high temperature perovskite superconductors, LnBa2Cu3O7−x, where Ln represents a rare earth element. Pyrolysis of the spin-coated films leads to black films up to several microns thick whose degree of orientation is a function of the processing temperature and duration. Representative films of YBa2Cu3O7−x on MgO begin to exhibit orientation with the c-axis perpendicular to the film at heat treatments above 900 'C. The superconducting behavior of a highly oriented film produced at 990 ° C is characterized by Tc (onset) = 89 K, Tc (R=0) = 77 K and Jc = 104 amp cm-2 at 65 K.

Rare-earth doped porous nanocrystalline TiO2 films were prepared via sol-gel method. The effect of preparation conditions on the properties of the resulting thin films, such as structure, surface topography and photocatalysis properties was analyzed. It indicated that appropriate doping of rare-earth element improves the photocatalysis ability of the thin titanium oxide films. The thin titanium oxide films have good photocatalysis properties in visible light region because of the red shift of energy level. It also revealed that uni-doped of cobalt is better than that of cobalt and lanthanum, while co-doping of cerium, cobalt and lanthanum may cause the best photocatalysis properties.
