AbstractThe compression of argon is measured between 10 K and 296 K up to 20 GPa and and up to 114 GPa at 296 K in diamond anvil cells. Three samples conditioning are used: (1) single crystal sample directly compressed between the anvils, (2) powder sample directly compressed between the anvils, (3) single crystal sample compressed in a pressure medium. A partial transformation of the face-centered cubic (fcc) phase to a hexagonal close-packed (hcp) structure is observed above 4.2–13 GPa. Hcp phase forms through stacking faults in fcc-Ar and its amount depends on pressurizing conditions and starting fcc-Ar microstructure. The quasi-hydrostatic equation of state of the fcc phase is well described by a quasi-harmonic Mie–Grüneisen–Debye formalism, with the following 0 K parameters for Rydberg-Vinet equation: $$V_0$$ V 0 = 38.0 Å$$^3$$ 3 /at, $$K_0$$ K 0 = 2.65 GPa, $$K'_0$$ K 0 ′ = 7.423. Under the current experimental conditions, non-hydrostaticity affects measured P–V points mostly at moderate pressure ($$\le$$ ≤ 20 GPa).

AbstractThe cyano-bridged heteronuclear coordination polymer of zinc(II)/nickel(II) has been prepared by N-(2-hydroxyethyl)-ethylendiamine (hydet-en), alternatively named 2-(2-aminoethylamino)-ethanol and characterised by IR and thermal analysis. In the bimetallic complex, the decomposition of hydet-en ligands is seen to be endothermic whereas that of the cyano ligands is found to be exothermic. The crystal structure of the complex has been determined by single-crystal X-ray diffraction. The crystal structure of the zinc(II)-nickel(II) complex consists of a one-dimensional polymeric chain –Zn(hydet-en)

A novel Bi (III) coordination compound, [Bi(HQ)(Cl)4]n ((Q = pyridine-4-carbaldehyde thiosemicarbazone), was prepared in this research using a sonochemical technique. SEM, infrared spectroscopy (IR), XRD, and single-crystal X-ray analysis were utilized to analyze the Bi(III) coordination compound. The structure determined using single-crystal X-ray crystallography indicates that the coordination compound is a 1D polymer in solid state and that the coordination number of bismuth (III) ions is six, (BiSCl5), with one S donor from the organic ligand and five Cl donors from anions. It is equipped with a hemidirectional coordination sphere. It is interesting that the ligand has been protonated in the course of the reaction with a Cl- ion balancing the charge. This compound’s supramolecular properties are directed and regulated by weak directional intermolecular interactions. Through π–π stacking interactions, the chains interact with one another, forming a 3D framework. Thermolysis of the compound at 170 °C with oleic acid resulted in the formation of pure phase nanosized Bi (III) oxide. SEM technique was used to examine the morphology and size of the bismuth (III) oxide product produced.

Ten isostructural single-crystal diffraction studies of mixed cation Ca/Sr salt forms of the salicylate anion are presented, namely catena-poly[[diaquacalcium(II)/strontium(II)]-bis(μ2-2-hydroxybenzoato)], [Ca1–x Sr x (C7H5O3)2(H2O)2] n , where x = 0, 0.041, 0.083, 0.165, 0.306, 0.529, 0.632, 0.789, 0.835 and 1. The structure of an isostructural Sr/Ba species, namely catena-poly[[diaquastrontium(II)/barium(II)]-bis(μ2-2-hydroxybenzoato)], [Sr0.729Ba0.271(C7H5O3)2(H2O)2], is also described. The Ca/Sr structures form a series where, with increasing Sr content, the unit cell expands in both the crystallographic a and c directions (by 1.80 and 3.18%, respectively), but contracts slightly in the b direction (−0.31%). The largest percentage structural expansion lies parallel to the direction of propagation of the one-dimensional coordination polymer that is the primary structural feature. This structural expansion is thus associated with increased M—O distances. Aqueous solubility measurements show that solubility generally increases with increasing Sr content. Thus, tuning the composition of these mixed counter-ion salt forms leads to systematic structural changes and allows solubility to be tuned to values between those for the pure Ca and Sr species.

The compressed sensing theory has been widely used in solving undetermined equations in various fields and has made remarkable achievements. The regularized smooth L0 (ReSL0) reconstruction algorithm adds an error regularization term to the smooth L0(SL0) algorithm, achieving the reconstruction of the signal well in the presence of noise. However, the ReSL0 reconstruction algorithm still has some flaws. It still chooses the original optimization method of SL0 and the Gauss approximation function, but this method has the problem of a sawtooth effect in the later optimization stage, and the convergence effect is not ideal. Therefore, we make two adjustments to the basis of the ReSL0 reconstruction algorithm: firstly, we introduce another CIPF function which has a better approximation effect than Gauss function; secondly, we combine the steepest descent method and Newton method in terms of the algorithm optimization. Then, a novel regularized recovery algorithm named combined regularized smooth L0 (CReSL0) is proposed. Under the same experimental conditions, the CReSL0 algorithm is compared with other popular reconstruction algorithms. Overall, the CReSL0 algorithm achieves excellent reconstruction performance in terms of the peak signal-to-noise ratio (PSNR) and run-time for both a one-dimensional Gauss signal and two-dimensional image reconstruction tasks.
