The article presents calculations and power flow of a real virtual power plant (VPP), containing a fragment of low and medium voltage distribution network. The VPP contains a hydropower plant (HPP), a photovoltaic system (PV) and energy storage system (ESS). The purpose of this article is to summarize the requirements for connection of generating units to the grid. Paper discusses the impact of the requirements on the maximum installed capacity of distributed energy resource (DER) systems and on the parameters of the energy storage unit. Firstly, a comprehensive review of VPP definitions, aims, as well as the characteristics of the investigated case study of the VPP project is presented. Then, requirements related to the regulation, protection and integration of DER and ESS with power systems are discussed. Finally, investigations related to influence of DER and ESS on power network condition are presented. One of the outcomes of the paper is the method of identifying the maximum power capacity of DER and ESS in accordance with technical network requirements. The applied method uses analytic calculations, as well as simulations using Matlab environment, combined with real measurement data. The obtained results allow the influence of the operating conditions of particular DER and ESS on power flow and voltage condition to be identified, the maximum power capacity of ESS intended for the planed VPP to be determined, as well as the influence of power control strategies implemented in a PV power plant on resources available for the planning and control of a VPP to be specified. Technical limitations of the DER and ESS are used as input conditions for the economic simulations presented in the accompanying paper, which is focused on investigations of economic efficiency.

A virtual power plant is a cluster of distributed generation installations (such as microchip, wind-turbines, small hydro, back-up genets etc.) which are collectively run by a central control entity. The concerted operational mode shall result in an extra benefit as to deliver peak load electricity or load following power at short notice. Bangladesh is facing acute power crisis like other developing countries. As we have limited resources we have to think economically. VPP is playing good role in European & American market. So we have taken VPP as a solution for power crisis. In this thesis, we have taken CUET as a reference model. To solve the power crisis in CUET & to supply power to the main grid a small virtual power plant is designed .Whole CUET is divided into three regions for designing purpose. By using MATLAB simulink environment machine characteristic curves are derived & cost is calculated. KEY WORDS: VPP; MATLAB; DG; CUET; MCCB; DER; LDC. DOI: http://dx.doi.org/10.3329/mist.v3i0.8054

AbstractNowadays, the sustainable energy management of industrial environments is of great importance because of their heavy loads and behaviors. In this paper, the Virtual Power Plant (VPP) idea is commented as a collected generation to be an appropriate approach for these networks handling. Here, Technical Industrial VPP (TIVPP) is characterized as a dispatching unit contains demands and generations situated in an industrial network. A complete structure is proposed here for possible conditions for different VPPs cooperation in the power market. This structure carries out a day-ahead and intra-day generation planning by choosing the best Demand Response (DR) programs considering wind power and market prices as the uncertain parameters. A risk management study is likewise taken into account in the proposed stages for contingency conditions. So, some component changes, like, regular demand changes and single-line outage are prepared in the framework to authorize the suggested concept in the contingency situation. To determine the adequacy and productivity of the proposed strategy, the IEEE-RTS modified framework is examined to test the technique and to evaluate some reassuring perspectives too. By the proposed methodology, the delectability of DR projects is uncovered in industrial networks and the improvement level of load shedding and the lower cost will be achieved.
