Subject. The article focuses on the advanced time-driven tools for allocating overhead expenses, which are based on process-based budgeting. Objectives. We articulate a technique for cost allocation so as to assess the cost of each process with reference to the common time driver. Methods. The study relies upon methods of systematization, classification, analogy and comparison, and summarizes the scientific literature on the subject. Results. The article presents our own suggestions on implementing TD-ABC and TD-ABB into the strategic management accounting process of developer companies. The principles were proved to help more effectively allocate overhead expenses and assess the capacity load of each process performed by functions, departments and employees. Carrying out a comparative analysis, we found certain reserves for utilizing resources more effectively. Conclusions and Relevance. The findings are of scientific and practical significance and can be used by developer and construction businesses. The conclusions can prove helpful for scientific papers, student books, and further research.

The influence of social capital on an individual’s educational achievements is the subject of numerous scientific papers. Research on social capital is most frequently based on Coleman’s (1988) or Bourdieu’s (1986) theories of capital, which are related to different paradigms of social theory: whereas Coleman’s approach has its roots in structural functionalism, Bourdieu’s approach contains elements of conflict theory. A number of authors, starting with Bourdieu, attempt to explain and prove that, when connected with the education of individuals, the activity of social capital facilitates social reproduction. Other authors support the notion that social capital is, in fact, a powerful weapon that encourages social mobility. A third group of researchers emphasise that neither of these approaches in isolation can entirety explain the influences of social capital on an individual’s education (Ho, 2003). The present paper offers a review of research focusing on the influences of social capital on educational achievements, while outlining the fundamental differences between the two theoretical approaches that are most frequently used for research of this topic. The aim of the paper is to explain the influence of social capital on an individual’s educational achievements under Bourdieu’s and Coleman’s theoretical concepts, and to establish whether combining the approaches is possible. The conclusion and arguments show that it is legitimate to use all three theoretical approaches.

The strawberries represent in our days one of the main fresh fruits consumed globally, inevitably leading to large amounts of by-products and wastes. Usually appreciated because of their specific flavor, the strawberries also possess biological properties, including antioxidant, antimicrobial, or anti-inflammatory effects. In spite of the wide spread of the Fragaria genus, few species represent the subject of the last decade scientific research. The main components identified in the Fragaria species are presented, as well as several biological properties, as emerging from the scientific papers published in the last decade.

Numerous environmental problems and stakeholder pressures have led companies to accept responsibility for the environmental consequences of doing business. Measuring the environmental performances of companies is gaining in importance and is becoming the subject of analysis in scientific papers and academic circles. Environmental performance indicators enable companies to systematically review and obtain information on the environmental aspect of a company business. If companies take care of the living and working environment, they can increase the motivation of employees and thus increase labor productivity. The aim of this paper is to point out the role and importance of environmental performances of companies, the way they are measured and managed.

Brand expression and repression: Reflections on homosexuality in old age Abstract: It is known that homosexuality has existed since the early days, and lived freely. However, today's society is made up of a lot of prejudice subjectively considering homosexuality an affront to social norms. When homosexuality harnesses to the elderly, the taboo and discrimination intensify if, mainly due to social judgment that older people do not feel attractive or are no longer able to have sex. Thus, it becomes important to analyze the difficulties faced by older people who are homosexual, this issue that generates much controversy, prejudice and stereotypes. Homosexuality in the elderly is a subject little studied, assuming the lack of bibliographical references. Therefore, it is necessary to further research and strategies in order to increase the level of knowledge on the subject. In this sense, this study it is a bibliographic research, from scientific papers, hoping to try to understand the emergence of this problem, but also try to find the explanations regarding the sexuality of stigma in the elderly, given that this it was seen naturally in antiquity. The results confirmed the existence of a taboo about homosexuality in old age added to two factors: homosexuality and aging. Two themes loaded with prejudices arising from a heterosexist society.

The effectiveness of the communication of research results from scientists to farmers has been the subject of much previous comment, both in New Zealand and overseas. Some of this is reviewed. Improvements in existing procedures are seen as desirable and necessary. Some changes, especially relevant to the New Zealand pastoral scene, are suggested. Scientists must be assisted to communicate the results of their research, in easily understood language. It should be mandatory for scientists to accompany their relevant scientific papers with a copy for lay consumption. Where necessary, skilled media assistance should be sought. It is argued that primary responsibility for initiating these necessary changes lies with those directing or leading research divisions, regional research stations, universities and with the New Zealand Grassland Association.

Arthur was the second son of the late Sir William Henry Perkin and was born at Sudbury on 13 December 1861 ; he was only a year and a half younger than his brother, the late William Henry Perkin, jun. Although these two distinguished organic chemists received the same parental impetus and made some early, but rather unsuccessful, essays in collaboration, their individual originality led to the enrichment of very different aspects of the subject. William, as is well known, became the disciple of Baeyer, carried the flag to Britain and maintained and developed the traditions of his school at Edinburgh, Manchester, and Oxford. Arthur, under the influence of Professor J. J. Hummel, became interested in the natural organic colouring matters ; one might almost say the natural dyestuffs, and in due course he was acknowledged throughout the world as the master of his chosen subject of research. Although Arthur, like William, became a teacher and professor, his influence in national scientific affairs and indirectly through his pupils, though considerable, cannot be compared with that exercised by his brother. Arthur was most at home at the bench, pursuing his investigations with his own hands, and it is significant that of his 270 scientific papers no fewer than 60 are published without collaborators.

An important factor along with the availability of food is its quality. It depends, among other things, on the type of plant protection products used and the method of their application. This manuscript presents research on the possibility of using a shielded band sprayer in field onion cultivation. The shielded band spraying technology presented in this article is the subject of a patent application (application number P.428494-The prototype of the machine was produced in Poland in cooperation with the University of Life Sciences in Poznań). The research consisted in comparing the quantity and quality of the obtained crop, based on various methods of reducing the weed population. The research results indicate that the proposed shielded band spraying technology may affect the food quality (the active substance is not sprayed on onion plants) and profitability of farms (less use of plant protection products).

In 1872 the Royal Society occupied quarters in Old Burlington House. The wings of the new building had been completed and the Society awaited the furnishing of the rooms before moving to its present home. At that time Walter White was Assistant Secretary and Librarian; Henry B. Wheatley was Clerk and Henry White had charge of the Catalogue of Scientific Papers . The latter was the father of Alfred George Hastings White, the subject of this notice. Alfred White was born at Albany Street, Regent’s Park, on 9 February 1859. His mother was the daughter of George W. Hastings, who for some years was the Honorary General Secretary of the National Association for the Promotion of Social Science. Henry White, the father, came of an old Reading family. He was educated at Trinity College, Cambridge, where he took his M.D., but he never practised as a doctor. Alfred White was educated at the North London Collegiate School for Boys in Camden Road, where he gained a reputation for a quickness in learning, especially with regard to languages. He left school at the early age of thirteen, in January 1873, to help his father at the Royal Society, joining the staff engaged upon the compilation of the Catalogue of Scientific Papers . In the same year, when the Society moved to its new quarters, he had much to do with arranging and shelving the books in the library. In this and the work on the Catalogue he gained valuable experience in library work which was a great help to him when he came to assist his father in preparing a catalogue of the Society’s library. This work occupied some years; and when Henry White died suddenly in 1880 from a heart attack in the Meeting Room of the Society it was left to Alfred White to complete the Library Catalogue and see it through the press. The first part was published in 1881 and the second in 1883.
