Modal analysis is performed on an axial flow fan of air-conditioner. Modal test is performed for verification. Results indicate that in the low frequency ranges the vibrating shape is dominantly the blades swing around the hub because the rigidity is very small at this position. The low frequency vibrations contribute greatly on turbine noise. A formula to estimate the blade swing induced noise is deduced for reference.
