Modified stepwise model of gas sorption process with finely dispersed water flow. The sorption model allows forecasting the intensity of hazardous gases deposition with adequate for the emergency recovery conditions accuracy using minimum input parameters. This allows using the sorption model under the conditions of emergency and increasing the forecasting promptness. Use of chemical neutralizer is proposed to increase the effectiveness of chlorine hazardous gas deposition. Use of sodium hydroxide is proposed as the chlorine chemical neutralizer, which is easily dissolved in water, non-toxic and easy to store. An experimental laboratory facility was developed and created with the purpose of experimental verification of the sorption processes, which allows researching the sorption processes by liquid aerosols within a wide range of dispersity. Adequacy of the existing models as well as the modified one was verified experimentally. The verification results showed a 5% indicator of the theoretical and experimental results compliance.

ABSTRACTThe effects of key geochemical parameters on Kd values for radionuclides in the host rock (pumice, sandstone) of a LLW repository were elucidated through a sensitivity analysis, using a thermodynamic speciation/sorption model for the elements Sr and Ni. The complex mineral assemblage of the rock was approximated by a component-additivity approach. Using published ion exchange and surface complexation parameters, Kd for both Sr and Ni could be well explained by the same model mineralogy and surface chemistry. Model results suggest that pCO2 can have a significant effect on Kd, and that a correct approximation of groundwater chemistry is a critical component of sorption modeling.

The possibility of implementing the innovative multi-disc sorption bed combined with the heat exchanger into the adsorption cooling technology is investigated experimentally and numerically in the paper. The developed in-house sorption model incorporated into the commercial computational fluid dynamics (CFD) code was applied within the analysis. The research allowed to define the design parameters of the proposed type of the sorption bed and correlate them with basic factors influencing the performance of the sorption bed and its dimensions. The designed multi-disc sorption bed is characterized by great scalability and allows to significantly expand the potential installation sites of the adsorption chillers.

A component with multiple weak sites is widely used in practical engineering and the existence of multiple weak sites can significantly decrease the component reliability. On the other hand, only a few components bear static loading and most components bear dynamic loading. In this paper, a reliability model of isomorphic component with multiple weak sites is built based on an order statistics model and the influences of strength decentrality and loading decentrality on isomorphic component with multiple weak sites are discussed. Furthermore the influence of loading times is studied in detail. The results show that unlike a component with only one weak site, not only does the failure of a component with multiple weak sites have a relationship with the safety margin, but there also exist relationships with the number of weak sites, the loading roughness, and loading times. The work in this paper is of some guiding significance in reliability design and assessment of a component with multiple weak sites under complex loading.
