This paper provides an insight into the labour market impacts of the COVID-19 crisis in Bangladesh, focusing on Rajshahi City Corporation. A survey was built to collect data about job switching nature before and during the crisis to shed light on the implications of COVID-19 on employment and earnings. The findings presented here indicate substantial labour market impacts both at the extensive and intensive margin, mainly due to the nature of the crisis's occupations. And the sufferers switch their jobs to 3-wheeler EVs industry as a driver or mechanic. Bus helper job was the most susceptible job during the pandemic, followed by garments. Due to the countrywide lockdown, emissions from vehicles were restricted, it was found that the air quality has been improved throughout the country during the lockdown. And 3-wheeler electric vehicles play a vital role to ease this issue. The study also assesses the impact of lockdown measures on air quality in Rajshahi. Four different air pollutants data from the google earth engine (NO2, SO2, CO, and O3) were analyzed. The study evaluated that the lockdown measures significantly reduced air pollution because of reduced vehicular and industrial emissions in Bangladesh.

Due to the conceptual degrees of freedom in their product structure, electric vehicles offer high potential for remanufacturing-oriented product design. This potential is, however, not realized yet. Remanufacturing as one fundamental element of a circular economy is characterized by specific challenges caused by uncertain information about the condition and the timing of the returning product. By means of a case study within the remanufacturing industry, the effects of uncertainties on remanufacturing operations are examined and different approaches within the field of production management to meet these specific challenges are pointed out. Based on the result of the case study a production management framework outlining fields of action to deal with remanufacturing specific uncertainties is developed. In this context, the requirements for remanufacturing of electric vehicles are derived by analyzing similarities from other industry sectors. In conclusion, a solution approach for the implementation for electric vehicles is presented for strategic, tactical and operational procurement logistics and remanufacturing operations.

This case study explores the strategic business opportunities, for Lane Crawford, an iconic luxury department store, to transition in a circular economy towards sustainability. A new experimentation framework was developed and conducted among cross departmental employees, during a Design Lab, with intention to co-create novel Circular Economy business concepts towards a new vision: the later was a reframe of the old system based on the principles of sustainability; to move beyond a linear operational model towards a circular economy that can contribute to a regenerative society. This work draws on both academic and professional experience and was conducted through professional practice. It was found that innovative co-created concepts, output from the Design Lab, can create radical change in a circular economy that is holistically beneficial and financially viable; looking forward to extract greater value a)Internal organization requires remodeling to transform towards a circular economy; b)Requirement for more horizonal teams across departments vs solely vertical; c)New language and relationships are required to be able to transition towards a circular economy; d)Some form of physical and virtual space requirements, for cross-disciplinary teams to come together to co-create; e)Ability to iterate, learn and evolve requires agency across the business

This article outlines methods to facilitate the assessment of the impact of electric vehicle charging on distribution networks at planning stage and applies them to a case study. As network planning is becoming a more complex task, an approach to automated network planning that yields the optimal reinforcement strategy is outlined. Different reinforcement measures are weighted against each other in terms of technical feasibility and costs by applying a genetic algorithm. Traditional reinforcements as well as novel solutions including voltage regulation are considered. To account for electric vehicle charging, a method to determine the uptake in equivalent load is presented. For this, measured data of households and statistical data of electric vehicles are combined in a stochastic analysis to determine the simultaneity factors of household load including electric vehicle charging. The developed methods are applied to an exemplary case study with Norwegian low-voltage networks. Different penetration rates of electric vehicles on a development path until 2040 are considered.

In electric vehicles with multiple motors, the torque at each wheel can be controlled independently, offering significant opportunities for enhancing vehicle dynamics behaviour and system efficiency. This paper investigates energy efficient torque distribution strategies for improving the operational efficiency of electric vehicles with multiple motors. The proposed strategies are based on the minimisation of power losses, considering the powertrain efficiency characteristics, and are easily implementable in real-time. A longitudinal dynamics vehicle model is developed in Simulink/Simscape environment, including energy models for the electrical machines, the converter, and the energy storage system. The energy efficient torque distribution strategies are compared with simple distribution schemes under different standardised driving cycles. The effect of the different strategies on the powertrain elements, such as the electric machine and the energy storage system, are analysed. Simulation results show that the optimal torque distribution strategies provide a reduction in energy consumption of up to 5.5% for the case-study vehicle compared to simple distribution strategies, also benefiting the battery state of charge.

Business models like product-service systems (PSSs) often recognise different sustainability goals and are seen as solutions for the impacts of consumption and fast fashion, but there is a lack of evidence supporting the environmental claims of such business models for clothing. The research aimed to understand if rental clothing business models such as PSSs have the environmental benefits often purported by quantifying the environmental impacts of rental formal dresses in a life-cycle assessment (LCA) in a case study in Stockholm, Sweden. The effects of varying consumer behaviour on the potential impact of a PSS vs. linear business model are explored through three functional units and 14 consumption scenarios. How users decide to engage with clothing PSSs dictates the environmental savings potential that a PSS can have, as shown in how many times consumers wear garments, how they use rental to substitute their purchasing or use needs, as well as how consumers travel to rental store locations.
