Transformation of digitalization in large industries has an impact on the automation of production equipment, including the replacement of production machines from conventional machines (manual) to digital machines. Meanwhile, automation of production equipment requires workers with higher skills, in fact the existing workforce does not have expertise in carrying out all-digital equipment. The impact is a reduction in labor (layoffs). Machine replacement is done in stages so that the reduction of workforce (PHK) in bulk is not visible. However, the inconsistency between the preparation in the world of education and the needs in the world of work continues to occur today. Until now, vocational development based on local resources has not been operating optimally and needs serious attention from the local government. The government on various occasions mentioned four leading sectors that will be strengthened in the development of vocational institutions, namely maritime, tourism, agriculture (food security), and the creative industry. In addition, the government is also developing a policy scheme for Skill Development Funds (SDF), which is a skills improvement program for workers affected by automation (PHK), including through Vocational Training Center (BLK).

Abstract. The digital signage market has been flourishing every year, and this situation opens up new commercialization opportunities for stakeholders related to the acceleration function. The modern world has allowed technological innovation to satisfy market demands, primarily based on portfolio of patent information. The digital signage apparatus became an economical solution for the costly technology in the digital era. The purpose of this paper was to find the impact of the competitive landscape on the digital signage apparatus towards e-commerce development based on a patent portfolio from the WIPO database. The research was performed based on the patent information using Innograph software and information related to digital signage apparatus resulting in a total of 146 registered patents and 40 patents matching the research subjects. The results revealed that the patent portfolio on the digital signage apparatus has high perceived usefulness, but only few industries used this as a reference in benchmarking their technological competitiveness. This paper is beneficial to the industry that seeks for the impact of the latest technological implementation amidst the competitive commercialization of the digital signage apparatus. Abstract. The need for open science has been recognized by the communities of meteorology and climate science. However, while these domains are mature in terms of applying digital technologies, these are lagging behind where the implementation of open science methodologies is concerned. In a session on Weather and Climate Science in the Digital Era at the 14th IEEE International eScience conference domain specialists and data and computer scientists discussed the road towards open weather and climate science. The studies presented in the conference session showed the added value of shared data, software and platforms through, for instance, combining data sets from disparate sources, increased accuracy and skill of simulations and forecasts at local scales, and improved consistency of data products. We observed that sharing data and code is important, but not sufficient to achieve open weather and climate science and that here are important issues to address. At the level of technology, the implementation of the FAIR principles to many datasets used in weather and climate science remains a challenge due to their origin, scalability, or legal barriers. Furthermore, the complexity of current software platforms limits collaboration between researchers and optimal use of open science tools and methods. The main challenges we observed, however, were non-technical and impact the system of science as a whole. There is a need for new roles and responsibilities at the interface of science and digital technology, e.g., data stewards and research software engineers. This requires the personnel portfolio of academic institutions to be more diverse, and in addition, a broader consideration of the impact of academic work, beyond publishing and teaching. Besides, new policies regarding open weather and climate science should be developed in an inclusive way to engage all stakeholders, including non-academic parties such as meteorological institutions. We acknowledge that open weather and climate science requires effort to change, but the benefits are large. As can already be observed from the studies presented in the conference it leads to much faster progress in understanding the world.

The Impact

This article addresses the impact of the digital era and it specifically refers to information and communication technologies (ICT) in Public Administration. It is based on the international approach and underscores the importance of incorporating new technologies established by the United Nations and the Organization of American States. Thereon, it highlights the Argentine Republic national approach towards ICT, and how it has moved towards a digital paradigm. It then emphasizes on the challenges and opportunities that emerge from the impact that artificial intelligence has in transforming Public Administration. The Impact

This chapter discusses emerging issues and technologies, such as ethical responsibilities in a changing technological environment, the use of analytics and artificial intelligence, the evolution of communications technology, and the growth of block chain and mobile apps technology. Mobile apps technology is a very exciting development because the nature of the applications is very personal and target specific customer needs, hence gradually resolving the issue of explicitly knowing the customer and meeting its personal needs through the concept of personas. This chapter provides numerous examples of how the various technological developments can be specifically implemented to enhance public service delivery in the digital era. In this context, Chapter 12 has two important implications, namely the impact of the technology trends to revolutionise public service delivery on the operations of government entities and users of government services in the future.

While the luxury goods market has been slow to embrace and capitalise on the opportunities related to the digital era that has not been the case for their customers. Fashion luxury brands are no exception to this and some have been noted for their inability to keep up with the digital revolution. In the case of fashion luxury brands, whilst some argue that the offline-online integration has added value to the brands others suggest that it has eroded the panache associated with luxury brand. As luxury fashion brands play a significant role in shaping the fashion industry one cannot ignore the approach to digital integration and the impact it may have on the direction the fashion industry takes. As noted by Michael Porter (2001) whether one should integrate internet technology as part of their business plan is no longer questionable, but rather a matter of how it may be most effectively deployed. PurposeThe aim of this study is to examine continuous auditing in the digital age from the perspective of audit firm employees. It also investigates contemporary factors affecting continuous auditing, as well as the techniques that could be utilised for its implementation.Design/methodology/approachInternal audit departments of private companies were contacted via email and given a questionnaire developed based on the extant literature. The sample consisted of 105 individuals employed in the largest audit institutions in Greece. Data were analysed using multiple regression.FindingsAs expected, technological advances are indispensable for the establishment of an effective digital auditing system. The impact of data protection measures against cyber-attacks as well as employees' skills and training were found to be significant. Particular attention should be given to the preparation and building of virtual auditing teams.Research limitations/implicationsThe fact that the digital era is still nascent with its final outcomes not yet visible makes it difficult to produce accurate predictions and draw conclusions. Further, there is a need to survey salient stakeholders in other country contexts beyond Greece pursuant of producing generalisable results.Practical implicationsThe actions taken by companies to ensure cyber security and the formation of virtual teams were found to be highly significant for the implementation of a real-time auditing process. Traditionally, factors such as cost and time play an important role in optimising internal continuous auditing. Technological advancements combined with careful, strategic and case-specific implementation have the potential to enhance the efficacy of older methods.Social implicationsThe positive propensity of staff to adopt technology and modern techniques illustrates how implementation difficulties can be overcome through the redefinition and scheduling of an organisation's objectives and training of its personnel.Originality/valueAudit firm employees highlighted the protection of personal data, the avoidance of cyber-attacks and training as major continuous internal auditing goals. The results indicate acceptance towards technology and modern techniques, provided companies ensure adequate preparation and staff training conditions.
