Two assumptions have been made based on by this proposed theory, which come from recently developed exponential–trigonometric shape function for transverse shear deformation effect and a simple higher order shear deformation theory for plate, based on a constraint between two rotational displacements of axis parallel to the plate midplane, about the axes x, y Cartesian coordinates system, which caused fewer unknown number. For the application of this method, a displacement field extended as only bending membrane for transverse displacement is used, a governing equations of motion as a result are determined according to Hamilton’s principle, and simplified using Navier analytical solutions, as well as the transverse shear stresses effect that satisfied the stress-free boundary conditions on the simply supported plate free faces as a parabolic variation along the thickness are taken into account. A functionally graded materials plates are chosen for the parametric study, where the plates are functionally graded continuously in materials through the plate thickness as a function of power law or exponential form. The aim of this study is to analyze the bending, free vibration as well as the buckling mechanical behaviors, where the results are more focused on the investigation of different parameters such as the volume fraction index, geometric ratios, frequency modes, in-plane compressive load parameters and material properties effects on the deflection, stresses, natural frequencies, and critical buckling load, which are validated in terms of accuracy and efficiency with other plate theories results found in the literature.

This work is the first exploration of the static bending and dynamic response analyses of piezoelectric bidirectional functionally graded plates by combining the third-order shear deformation theory of Reddy and the finite element approach, which can numerically model mechanical relations of the structure. The present approach and mechanical model are confirmed through the verification examples. The geometrical and material study is conducted to evaluate the effects of the feedback coefficients, volume fraction parameter, and constraint conditions on the static and dynamic behaviors of piezoelectric bidirectional functionally graded structures, and this work presents a wide variety of static and dynamic behaviors of the plate with many interesting results. There are many meanings that have not been mentioned by any work, especially the working performance of the structure is better than that when the feedback parameter of the piezoelectric component is added, that is, the piezoelectric layer increases the working efficiency. Numerical investigations are the important basis for calculating and designing related materials and structures in technical practice.

The effects of third-order shear deformation theory and varied shear correction coefficient on the vibration frequency of thick functionally graded material cylindrical shells with fully homogeneous equation under thermal environment are investigated. The nonlinear coefficient term of displacement field of third-order shear deformation theory is included to derive the fully homogeneous equation under free vibration of functionally graded material cylindrical shells. The determinant of the coefficient matrix in dynamic equilibrium differential equations under free vibration can be represented into the fully fifth-order polynomial equation, thus the natural frequency can be found. Two parametric effects of environment temperature and functionally graded material power law index on the natural frequency of functionally graded material thick cylindrical shells with and without the nonlinear coefficient term of displacement fields are computed and investigated.

In the present article, according to the nonlocal elasticity theory within the framework of the third-order shear deformable plate assumption, the theoretical analysis of thermomechanical vibration response of magneto-electro-thermo-elastic nanoplate made of functionally graded materials resting on the visco-Pasternak medium is carried out. The simply supported magneto-electro-thermo-elastic nanoplate is supposed to subject to initial external electric, magnetic potentials, and temperature environment. The material characteristics of magneto-electro-thermo-elastic nanoplate are assumed to be variable continuously across the thickness direction based upon power law distribution. Hamilton’s principle is utilized to achieve the partial differential equations and corresponding boundary conditions. The equilibrium equations are solved analytically to determine the complex eigenfrequency using Navier’s approach which satisfies the simply supported boundary conditions. Numerical studies are performed to illustrate the dependency of the natural frequency of the system on the damping coefficient of the visco-Pasternak medium, nonlocal parameter, aspect ratio, temperature change, volume fraction index of functionally graded material, initial external electric voltage, initial external magnetic potential, and plate thickness. It is clearly indicated that these factors have highly significant impacts on the dynamic behavior of the proposed system.
