The paper discuss about the sensitivity analysis on the preliminary design of Earth observation micro-satellite. The objective of the analysis is to evaluate which design parameters affect the satellite performances the most. The satellite type used in this research is the one which weight no more than 100 kg and which dimension can be fitted into auxilary payload alocation in the launch vehicle. The satellite mission chosen in this research is limited to optical-based multispectral imager, and the design phase is at preliminary design, in which some of the constraints are based on empirical data. The result obtained show that image resolusion affect the most on the rate of data to be processed, especially at high resolution, so that it affect the satellite power consumption. Resolution, which is a function of lens dimensions, also effect the satellite’s weight that have to acommodate it. On the other hand, such accomodation affect the satellite’s ability to supply electrical power. Number of spectrum, also affect satellite’s weight and power consumption, but at more moderate level. Keywords: Microsatellite design, Earth observation satellite, Sensitivity analysis

In this chapter, the authors perform a careful sensitivity analysis of a power model for the Internet core: their results show that, no matter how carefully the data upon which the power-consumption model relies is chosen and cross-verified, the uncertainty of the overall results remains disappointingly high. The authors believe that part of the solution lies in a community-wide effort, to which they offer some initial guidance that could, if not solve the issue, at least greatly improve the current situation.
