AbstractPresent work analyses the regeneration of aqueous solutions of glucosamine employed in carbon dioxide capture by gas–liquid absorption by using new methodologies. The aim of the development of these methods is to avoid the aggressiveness shown by the most common one: stripping (e.g. corrosion or degradation). This latest produces an important amine loss and also involves a high energetic cost. This research work has checked the behavior of two new regeneration processes when a thermolabile amine is employed in the chemical solvent for carbon dioxide absorption. These methods are based on the removal of bicarbonate ion and amine deprotonation showing suitable results in comparison with thermal treatment.
