Rich achievements have been gained on the problem of early age concrete. The application of concrete maturity is widely used in engineering to describe the strength of early age concrete. This paper presents the concept of maturity, research results of concrete maturity by scholars from both domestic and foreign areas, its development history, and method applicable scope of it. Degree of hydration method is also mentioned to make comparisons with maturity method. Both are recognized as valid tools to describe the strength behavior of early age concrete.
