Anorexia nervosa is a complex, chronic, remittent disorder of mostly adolescent women. It presents with multiple psychiatric and medical symptoms which are difficult to diagnose and treat, especially in the long run. Its differential diagnosis is complex and treatment requires dedicated effort and several specialists working cooperatively. Its etiology is still unclear, although there are several promising leads. Treatment is largely empirical and nonspecific at this point. Early identification and aggressive treatment are the only hope for preventing chronicity. Its relatively high mortality attests to the fact that it is not a benign disorder.

Angina bullosa hemorrhagica (ABH) is a benign disorder of the oral cavity. Clinically, oral, blood-filled blisters are seen. To give a proper diagnosis, one should rule out any other cause. We aim to present this case in order to emphasize this rare cause of oral bullae which is necessary to be differentiated from many serious dermatological and hematological disorders.

Endometriosis is a benign disorder and characterized by ectopic endometrium like tissues outside the uterus. We report a case of a 31 year-old woman referred to our clinic due to complaints of a vulvar and umbilical mass and periodic swelling with pain of the mass at the time of menstruation. The cyst was removed totally. Histopathological examination showed findings compatible with endometriosis in both. We have treated them with suppressive treatment with Depot Medroxy Progesterone Acetate (DMPA) and after six months patient was completely asymptomatic.

Idiopathic scrotal calcinosis is an uncommon benign disorder of the scrotal skin which is characterized by multiple calcified intradermal nodules. We report a 33-year old with asymptomatic multiple calcified scrotal skin nodules. He had wide excision of the lesions and direct closure of the scrotum. We review the pathogenesis and surgical treatment options for this rare disease of the scrotum.

Renal lymphangiectasia is a very rare benign disorder characterised by dilatation of the perirenal and peripelvic lymphatics. The condition is commonly misdiagnosed for othercystic lesions of the kidney such as polycystic kidneys. The diagnosis can be made with near-certainty if classical imaging findings are recognised. We report a case of bilateral renal lymphangiectasia, diagnosed on ultrasonography and computed tomography based on the typical imaging findings and the laboratory analysis of aspirated fluid. The patient was managed conservatively.

ABSTRACT Bacillus subtilis forms structured communities of biofilms encased in an exopolysaccharide matrix on solid surfaces and at the air-liquid interface. It is postulated that nonoptimal growth conditions induce this multicellular behavior. We showed that under laboratory conditions a strain deleted for sigB was unable to form a floating pellicle on the surface of a liquid medium. However, overexpression of yxaB, encoding a putative exopolysaccharide synthase, from a p Spac promoter in a sigB-deleted strain resulted in partial recovery of the wild-type phenotype, indicating the participation of the YxaB protein in this multicellular process. We present data concerning the regulation of transcription of genes yxaB and yxaA, encoding a putative glycerate kinase. Both genes are cotranscribed as a single transcription unit from a σA-dependent promoter during vegetative growth of a liquid bacterial culture. The promoter driving transcription of the yxaAB operon is regulated by AbrB. In addition, the second gene in the operon, yxaB, possesses its own promoter, which is recognized by RNA polymerase containing the σB subunit. This transcription start site is used under general stress conditions, resulting in increased expression.
