Abstract Along the Coubre coast, Charente-Maritime, France, two distinct sedimentation zones are juxtaposed--from Arvert point to the vicinity of Pavillon, sedimentation is relatively stable; farther south, in spite of contribution by the Gironde, erosion predominates. A large part of the fine beach sediments has been derived locally. Among the ephemeral beach phenomena are some which appear to be analogous to large ripple marks or beach cusps, and which seem to be controlled by local conditions of slope and angle of wind and waves.
