Abstract It is well known that primordial black hole (PBH) can be generated in inflation process of the early universe, especially when the inflaton field has some non-trivial features that could break the slow-roll condition. In this paper, we investigate a toy model of inflation with bumpy potential, which has one or several bumps. We found that potential with multi-bump can give rise to power spectra with multi peaks in small-scale region, which can in turn predict the generation of primordial black holes in various mass ranges. We also consider the two possibilities of PBH formation by spherical collapse and elliptical collapse. And discusses the scalar-induced gravitational waves (SIGWs) generated by the second-order scalar perturbations.

AbstractWe study massive scalar field perturbation on Kerr black holes in dynamical Chern–Simons gravity by performing a $$(2+1)$$ ( 2 + 1 ) -dimensional simulation. Object pictures of the wave dynamics in time domain are obtained. The tachyonic instability is found to always occur for any nonzero black hole spin and any scalar field mass as long as the coupling constant exceeds a critical value. The presence of the mass term suppresses or even quench the instability. The quantitative dependence of the onset of the tachyonic instability on the coupling constant, the scalar field mass and the black hole spin is given numerically.

We discuss the P−V criticality and phase transition in the extended phase space of anti-de Sitter(AdS) black holes in four-dimensional Rastall theory and recover the Van der Waals (VdW) analogy of small/large black hole (SBH/LBH) phase transition when the parameters ωs and ψ satisfy some certain conditions. Later, we further explore the quasinormal modes (QNMs) of massless scalar perturbations to probe the SBH/LBH phase transition. It is found that it can be detected near the critical point, where the slopes of the QNM frequencies change drastically in small and large black holes.
