Black hole thermodynamics suggests that the maximum entropy that can be contained in a region of space is proportional to the area enclosing it rather than its volume. We argue that this follows naturally from loop quantum gravity and a result of Kolmogorov and Bardzin' on the the realizability of networks in three dimensions. This represents an alternative to other approaches in which some sort of correlation between field configurations helps limit the degrees of freedom within a region. It also provides an approach to thinking about black hole entropy in terms of states inside rather than on its surface. Intuitively, a spin network complicated enough to imbue a region with volume only lets that volume grow as quickly as the area bounding it.

In this paper, we consider rotating black hole in three dimensions with a scalar charge and discuss about the jet-quenching parameter. We find that the effect of scalar charge is decreasing and rotation parameter is increasing the value of the jet-quenching parameter.

In this paper, we consider a charged black hole in three dimensions with a scalar charge and discuss energy loss of a heavy particle moving near the black hole horizon. This analysis is useful when anti-de Sitter space – conformal field theory correspondence is applied. We find that an electric charge of a black hole increases the drag force but a scalar charge decreases it.

AbstractIn this paper, we consider a charged rotating black hole in three dimensions with a scalar charge, and discuss thermodynamics quantities. We find effects of the black hole parameters on the temperature, entropy, free energy, total energy and specific heat. We also investigate the stability of the black hole and study phase transition. We consider the first law of thermodynamics and find that satisfied.

Important Distinction

In a recent paper (Entropy 2020, 22(1), 17), Tsallis states that entropy—as in Shannon or Kullback–Leiber’s definitions—is inadequate to interpret black hole entropy and suggests that a new non-additive functional should take the role of entropy. Here we counterargue by explaining the important distinction between the properties of extensivity and additivity; the latter is fundamental for entropy, while the former is a property of particular thermodynamical systems that is not expected for black holes. We also point out other debatable statements in his analysis of black hole entropy.

Abstract We study a holographic construction of quantum rotating BTZ black holes that incorporates the exact backreaction from strongly coupled quantum conformal fields. It is based on an exact four-dimensional solution for a black hole localized on a brane in AdS4, first discussed some years ago but never fully investigated in this manner. Besides quantum CFT effects and their backreaction, we also investigate the role of higher-curvature corrections in the effective three-dimensional theory. We obtain the quantum-corrected geometry and the renormalized stress tensor. We show that the quantum black hole entropy, which includes the entanglement of the fields outside the horizon, satisfies the first law of thermodynamics exactly, even in the presence of backreaction and with higher-curvature corrections, while the Bekenstein-Hawking-Wald entropy does not. This result, which involves a rather non-trivial bulk calculation, shows the consistency of the holographic interpretation of braneworlds. We compare our renormalized stress tensor to results derived for free conformal fields, and for a previous holographic construction without backreaction effects, which is shown to be a limit of the solutions in this article.

We consider a charged rotating black hole in three dimensions with a scalar charge and discuss the jet-quenching parameter. We find that the effect of scalar charge and electric charge is to increase the jet-quenching parameter while the rotation of the black hole may decrease the value of the jet-quenching parameter. We find that viscosity of quark–gluon plasma is enhanced because of the electric and scalar charges.
